Vitamin K catabolite inhibition of ovariectomy-induced bone loss: Structure–activity relationship considerations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The potential benefit of vitamin K as a therapeutic in osteoporosis is controversial and the vitamin K regimen being used clinically (45 mg/day) employs doses that are many times higher than required to ensure maximal gamma‐carboxylation of the vitamin K‐

Identification of novel members of the bacterial azoreductase family in 'Pseudomonas aeruginosa' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Azoreductases are a family of diverse enzymes found in many pathogenic bacteria as well as distant homologues being present in eukarya. In addition to having azoreductase activity these enzymes are also suggested to have NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase ...

Visible-light-induced addition of carboxymethanide to styrene from monochloroacetic acid

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2020
Where monochloroacetic acid is widely used as a starting material for the synthesis of relevant groups of compounds, many of these synthetic procedures are based on nucleophilic substitution of the carbon chlorine bond.

NADPH-specific quinone reductase is induced by 2-methylene-4-butyrolactone in Escherichia coli

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1996
2-Methylene-4-butyrolactone (MBL), an inducer of NAD(P)H:(quinone acceptor) oxidoreductase (EC 1.699.2) in animal cells, was found to induce NADPH-specific quinone reductase about 25-fold in Escherichia coli. MBL induced NADPH-quinone reductases with relative mobilities (Rm) of 0.70, 0.76 and 0.91 on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).

An innovative method to produce green table olives based on "pied de cuve" technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The technology of "pied de cuve" (PdC) is applied in food process only to produce wines with an enriched community of pro-technological yeasts. PdC promotes the growth of the desirable microbial strains in a small volume of grape must acting as a starter
