Composition Determination from Strain Relaxation in 4D-STEM
Abstract Composition determination with high spatial resolution is crucial for device engineering of electronic and optoelectronic systems. While scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) can infer material composition from strain with high precision, multiple scattering effects (dynamic diffraction) often hinder accurate ...

Ionic Precursors Transformed Into Vinyl Acetate Synthesis Catalyst via Reaction‐Driven Restructuring
This work demonstrates that a simple physical mixture of Pd and Au ionic precursors, KOAc promoter, and SiO2 support can transform into a highly active vinyl acetate synthesis catalyst through reaction‐driven restructuring. The results highlight reaction‐induced restructuring as an innovative and sustainable catalyst design strategy.

Solving the Crystal Architecture of Coccoliths Using 4D-STEM
Abstract Marine phytoplankton form functional biominerals with intricate morphologies and architectures. Coccolithophores occupy a special position among these organisms because of their production of intricate calcite scales, called coccoliths.

"Does gender matter when teaching STEM?" : Australian primary teachers speak
Current literature illuminates that primary school teachers lack the skills and confidence required to teach STEM subjects effectively. This a recurring theme in the literature and a cause for concern.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Framework of compressive sensing and data compression for 4D-STEM
Four-dimensional Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (4D-STEM) is a powerful technique for high-resolution and high-precision materials characterization at multiple length scales, including the characterization of beam-sensitive materials. However,

A Li2O‐rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is engineered on graphite through a propylene carbonate‐based electrolyte to spatially regulate Li plating. The homogeneous interphase lowers Li nucleation barriers, promotes conformal Li deposition around graphite particles, and suppresses dendritic accumulation, enabling durable hybrid Li‐ion/Li‐metal ...

Disentangling Bulk and Surface Contributions to Charge and Discharge Fading in High‐Voltage LiCoO2
High‐voltage operation of LiCoO2 accelerates capacity fading through bulk and surface degradation. By introducing a LiTaO3 coating to selectively suppress surface degradation, bulk and surface contributions to charge and discharge fading are decoupled.
