Trout (Salmo gairdneri R.) liver 5-aminolevulinate synthetase: Subcellular distribution and properties

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1987
The subcellular distribution of trout liver 5-aminolevulinate synthetase has been studied. A cytosolic form of the enzyme has been found. Its activity was a 30% of the mitochondrial enzyme. The cytosolic form has a molecular weight of 110,000, larger than the mitochondrial enzyme (70,000). The two enzyme forms showed a pH optimum of 7.5.

Erythroid 5-aminolevulinate synthetase from trout (Salmo gairdneri R.)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1986
A mitochondrial and cytosolic erythroid ALA-synthetase have been found in trout. The polypeptide existent in the cytosol is probably a precursor of the 90,000 mol. wt mitochondrial ALA-synthetase. The erythroid ALA-synthetase is about 20,000 mol. wt larger than the hepatic enzyme. The differences in mol.

5-aminolevulinic acid synthetase induction: Inhibitory effect exerted by administration of uridine diphosphate glucose

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1976
Abstract Allylisopropylacetamide(AIA) administered subcutaneously to female Wistar rats increased 5-aminolevulmic acid(ALA) synthetase activity in liver. Uridine diphosphate glucose(UDPG) administered subcutaneously or intraperitoneally lowered ALA synthetase activity in AIA-treated rats, but related compounds such as uridine, glucose phosphate, UMP.

Lack of Glucose Effect on the Induction of 5-Aminolevulinate Synthetase and Tyrosine Aminotransferase in the Isolated Perfused Rat Liver

Enzyme, 2017
In the isolated perfused rat liver, both 5-aminolevulinate synthetase and tyrosine aminotransferase were induced by the addition of 3.5 mmol/l allylisopropylacetamide and 58 μmol/l dexamethasone to the perfusion medium. Glucose (40 mmol/l) did not affect either the induction of these enzymes or the intrahepatic level of cyclic AMP.

Sex-related effect of cadmium on hepatic cytochrome p-450, drug-metabolizing enzymes and 5-aminolevulinic acid synthetase and heme oxygenase in the rat

Toxicology Letters, 1979
Abstract The effect of cadmium on hepatic cytochrome P-450 containing drugmetabolizing enzymes, δ-aminolevulinic acid synthetase (ALA synthetase) and heme oxygenase activity in both male and female rats was examined to define the nature of sex differences in response. In male rats injected i.p.

Protoporphyrinaemia and decreased activities of 5-aminolevulinic acid dehydrase and uroporphyrinogen I synthetase in erythrocytes of a vitamin B6-deficient epileptic boy given valproic acid and carbamazepine

Clinical Biochemistry, 1989
Carbamazepine (CBMZP) has been implicated as an inhibitor of the activities of 5-aminolaevulinic acid dehydratase (ALA-D) and uroporphyrinogen I synthetase (URO-S). In an epileptic boy undergoing long-term treatment with valproic acid (VPA), 1.3 g/d, CBMZP, 0.9 g/d and folic acid, 7.5 mg/d, decreased activities of ALA-D and URO-S coincided with ...

[Deficiency of succinic dehydrogenase or succinyl-coA synthetase enhances the production of 5-aminolevulinic acid in recombinant Escherichia coli].

Sheng wu gong cheng xue bao = Chinese journal of biotechnology, 2014
5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), a precursor for biosynthesis of pyrrole compounds in living organisms, has been widely used in agriculture and medical photodynamics therapy and is regarded as a promising value-added bio-based chemical. In the previous investigations on ALA production with recombinant Escherichia coli expressing heterogenous C4 pathway ...
