A tandem cell system coupling electrochemical CO2 reduction and electrochemical ethanol oxidation is demonstrated for overall acetate production, providing concepts for a CO2‐negative bioethanol to acetate pathway. ABSTRACT Bioethanol production from biomass is suggested as a strategy for greener fuel production.

Molecular Analysis of Primary Vapor and Char Products during Stepwise Pyrolysis of Poplar Biomass [PDF]
Pyrolysis of biomass produces both pyrolysis oil and solid char. In this study, poplar has been pyrolyzed in a stepwise fashion over a series of temperatures from 200 to 500 °C, and both the primary products contributing to pyrolysis oil and the changes ...

Using a coordinated regulation strategy of interface and ligand, we developed a nickel cobalt sulfide/carboxylate ligand‐modified nickel cobalt hydroxide composite (NiCo‐S/NiCo‐OH‐CL) with abundant heterointerfaces. Owing to the porous network, sulfur‐repellent hydrophilic surface, and dual electronic structure regulation, the coupled electrolysis ...

Screening of volatile composition from portuguese multifloral honeys using headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography–quadrupole mass spectrometry [PDF]
The volatile composition from four types of multifloral Portuguese (produced in Madeira Island) honeys was investigated by a suitable analytical procedure based on dynamic headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) followed by thermal desorption gas

Mechanochemical Hydrodeoxygenations
A silver‐catalyzed mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation with triethylsilane as reductant allows to convert ketones to the corresponding methylene derivatives in good yields after a short reaction time. Selected examples show that also alcohols, ethers, and sulfoxides can react. In this work, a mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) was developed. Using

Through ligand length and π‐electron density modulation, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) improve mass transport and hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), thus improving biomass electrooxidation. ABSTRACT Controlling reaction pathways in electrocatalytic biomass upgrading remains challenging because mass transport, substrate adsorption, and elementary kinetics ...

Production of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural from Glucose Using a Combination of Lewis and Brønsted Acid Catalysts in Water in a Biphasic Reactor with an Alkylphenol Solvent [PDF]
We report the catalytic conversion of glucose in high yields (62%) to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), a versatile platform chemical. The reaction system consists of a Lewis acid metal chloride (e.g., AlCl 3) and a Bronsted acid (HCl) in a biphasic reactor
