Emerging Trends in Liquid Luminescent Solar Concentrators: Progress and Prospects

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This illustration showcases the design of liquid luminescent solar concentrators highlighting key components such as luminescent materials and waveguide media. It also outlines diverse applications, including building‐integrated photovoltaics, smart windows, photodetectors, agrivoltaics, greenhouse energy systems, and wearable or portable solar devices.

Probing Viscoelasticity of Polymeric Coatings Using Nonlinear Dynamic Atomic Force Microscopy

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
For soft materials it is essential to characterize both the elastic and viscous material properties. Using an atomic force microscope, the hardening nonlinearity induced by a tip‐sample contact and bifurcation points can be used to separately estimate the visco‐ and elastic parts of the tip‐sample interaction force.

Machine Learning‐Based Prediction of Life‐Threatening Complications During Hemodialysis in Hospitalized Patients With Poor General Conditions

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
A machine learning model using predialysis data predicted sudden events during or after hemodialysis with high accuracy (auROC: 0.889). The key predictors included emergency hospitalization, recent surgery, high heart rate, low albumin levels, and high CRP.

Beyond performance: Emotions before and after semi‐high‐stakes mathematics testing among school‐aged students

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Previous research has shown that testing differs significantly from other classroom activities and is associated with heightened negative emotions and lower levels of positive emotions. However, relatively little is known about students' emotions surrounding testing, particularly in higher‐stakes assessment settings. Aims This study

An effective and efficient matheuristic for the electric vehicle routing problem with capacitated recharging stations

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract In this paper, we address the problem of routing a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) to serve a set of customers, geographically distributed, within their time windows. We assume that EVs may also be recharged en route, and the amount of energy recharged at a recharging station (RS) is a decision variable itself, that is, partial recharges are ...

Estimating Correlations Between Clinical Trial Outcomes Using Generalised Estimating Equations

open access: yesOxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurately estimating the correlations among clinical trial outcomes is crucial for managing the risk of biopharmaceutical investment portfolios. We propose a novel algorithm for estimating correlations in large clinical trial datasets using a generalised estimating equations (GEE) framework.

Clustering sperm: A statistical approach to identify sperm morph numbers in the Drosophila obscura species group

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, EarlyView.
Most Drosophila species, such as D. melanogaster, make one type of sperm, while the obscura species group produces multiple sperm morphs, with different total lengths and nuclear lengths. The pseudoobscura species subgroup produces three sperm morphs (one long, two short). This is a derived feature as other sub‐groups produce two sperm morphs.
