Evidence of nearby supernovae affecting life on Earth [PDF]

open access: yesMon. Not. R. Astron. Soc., 423, 1234-1253 (2012), 2012
Observations of open star clusters in the solar neighborhood are used to calculate local supernova (SN) rates for the past 510 million years (Myr). Peaks in the SN rates match passages of the Sun through periods of locally increased cluster formation which could be caused by spiral arms of the Galaxy.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Comparative single‐cell transcriptomic profiling of patient‐derived renal carcinoma cells in cellular and animal models of kidney cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We generated and characterized clear cell renal cell carcinoma models using the patient‐derived RCC243 cell line—including cell culture, orthotopic, and metastatic tumors—via single‐cell RNA‐sequencing for comparisons between models and patient tumor datasets.

Inhibition of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR Signaling Pathway in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma: Current Knowledge and Clinical Significance

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is one of the most common non-Hodgkin lymphomas in adults. The disease is very heterogeneous in its presentation, that is DLBCL patients may differ from each other not only in regard to histology of tissue ...

Inclusive Jet Cross Section Measurements in $pp$ Collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 200 and 510 GeV with STAR [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Jets, clusters of collimated particles produced in high energy proton-proton ($pp$) collisions, are an excellent tool to study the internal structure of the proton. According to perturbative QCD (pQCD) calculations, for center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s} = $ 200 and 510 GeV at RHIC, jet production in the mid pseudorapidity, $|\eta| <$ 1, is dominated

Onset symptoms in 510 patients with Huntington's disease. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Genetics, 1993
The onset of Huntington's disease (HD) is preceded or accompanied by events and symptoms which contribute to the natural history of the disease. Data obtained from the first 510 completed 'Questionnaires for Affected Individuals', recorded by the National Huntington's Disease Research Roster (NHDRR) were analysed. The following features were evaluated:

Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.
