ABSTRACT Objectives To report disease‐free survival (DFS) in p16‐positive non‐oropharyngeal head‐and‐neck squamous‐cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Methods Curatively‐treated non‐oropharyngeal HNSCC (2009–2021) were reviewed. DFS was compared among p16‐positive, p16‐negative, and p16‐untested cases for the overall cohort and by disease site.

Impact of Smoking on Treatment Outcomes in Patients With Human Papillomavirus‐Related Oropharyngeal Cancer

ABSTRACT Background Patients with HPV+ oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) have worse outcomes with longer smoking history (≥ 10 pack‐years). This has been confirmed in trials of primary radiotherapy but not surgery, suggesting differential smoking impact by treatment received. We assessed smoking‐related outcomes at a single institution.

Risk of hemorrhagic stroke in warfarin‐treated patients following heart valve replacement: Findings from the MAGPIE study

Among 568 mechanical heart valve replacement patients in Bangladesh, hemorrhagic stroke occurred in 4.4% with 52% mortality. Severe pulmonary hypertension increased risk 4.4‐fold, and warfarin therapy ≥104 months nearly doubled the risk, highlighting the need for long‐term risk monitoring in anticoagulated valve patients.

Breast Cancer Outcomes From Ductal Carcinoma In Situ: A Population‐Based Cohort Study

Women with ductal carcinoma in situ have an elevated risk of subsequent invasive breast cancer, but how this risk evolves over time is unclear. In this population‐based study of ethnically diverse women diagnosed between 2000 and 2022 in New Zealand, the risk of invasive ipsilateral breast cancer persisted beyond 5 years.
