Biological and molecular characterization of various isolates of Potato virus Y-N (PVY-N) strain group

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2002
Fourteen Potato virus Y (PVY) isolates were characterized. They represented PVYN strain only. However, application of serological and molecular genetic methods led to a more complicated characterization.

Adaptive significance of the transparent body in the tadpoles of ornamented pygmy frog, Microhyla ornata (Anura, Amphibia)

open access: yesActa Herpetologica, 2020
In Southern India, during the Southwest monsoon phase, the newly formed ephemeral water bodies harbour several species of tadpoles as well as some of their predators. Tadpoles of Microhyla ornata dwell in surface or column zones of water.

Cytotoxicity towards Breast Cancer Cells of Pluronic F-127/Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogel Containing Nitric Oxide Donor and Silica Nanoparticles Loaded with Cisplatin

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
The incorporation of both nitric oxide (NO) donor (S-nitrosoglutathione, GSNO) and silica nanoparticles loaded with cisplatin (SiO2@CisPt NPs) into a polymeric matrix represents a suitable approach to creating a drug-delivery system with sustained and ...

Mid-infrared broadband modulation instability and 50 dB Raman assisted parametric gain in silicon photonic wires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
: We demonstrate broadband modulation instability, > 40 dB parametric amplification with on-chip gain bandwidth > 580 nm, and narrowband Raman-assisted peak on-chip gain exceeding 50 dB, using mid-infrared dispersion-engineered silicon nanophotonic

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

The Luminosity of SN 1999by in NGC 2841 and the Nature of `Peculiar' Type Ia Supernovae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present UBVRIJHK photometry and optical spectroscopy of the so-called 'peculiar' Type Ia supernova 1999by in NGC 2841. The observations began one week before visual maximum light which is well-defined by daily observations.

Intramolecular Down‐ and Up‐Conversion in Dimeric Tetracene Complexes Centered via Platinum(II) and Palladium(II)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐tetracene dimeric complexes are synthesized through the pyridyl coordination to either Pt(II) or Pd(II). Photophysical properties are systematically compared as a function of the metal using steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy. The Pt(II) dimer exhibits efficient intramolecular singlet fission and subsequent intramolecular up‐conversion ...
