Occurrence, morphology and growth of understory saplings in Swedish forests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Growing demands for a multipurpose forestry leads to increased use of silvicultural systems that avoid clear-cutting. Regeneration in such systems is based on establishment and ingrowth of new seedlings under a more or less closed canopy.

IGM Heating in Fossil Galaxy Groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study intergalactic medium (IGM) heating in a sample of five fossil galaxy groups by using their radio properties at 610 MHz and 1.4 GHz. The power by radio jets introducing mechanical heating for the sampled objects is not sufficient enough to suppress the cooling flow.

The very steep spectrum radio halo in Abell 697 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we present a detailed study of the giant radio halo in the galaxy cluster Abell 697, with the aim to constrain its origin and connection with the cluster dynamics.

Low-frequency radio study of MACS clusters at 610 and 235 MHz using the GMRT [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019, Volume 489, Issue 1: pp. 446, 2019
Studies have shown that mergers of massive galaxy clusters produce shocks and turbulence in the intra-cluster medium, the possible event that creates radio relics, as well as the radio halos. Here we present GMRT dual-band (235 and 610~MHz) radio observations of four such clusters from the MAssive Cluster Survey (MACS) catalogue.

2H‐Au Nanosheet‐Templated Growth of PdFe for Electrocatalytic Methanol Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2H‐to‐face‐centered cubic (fcc) phase transformation of 2H‐Au happens when PdFe alloy epitaxially grows on 2H‐Au nanosheets (NSs), forming 2H/fcc Au@PdFe NSs, and the 2H/fcc phase ratio in 2H/fcc Au@PdFe NSs can be tuned correspondingly by changing the Pd/Fe atomic ratio.

The Effect of Utilizing Distributed Intelligent Lighting System for Energy Consumption in the Office

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
We have been examining how an intelligent lighting system affects energy consumption in the office. In this paper, we evaluate the traditional intelligent lighting system at the office and how to improve the best use of the intelligent lighting system by

Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Two Side-by-Side Cylinders at a Pitch Ratio of 2 at Low Subcritical Reynolds Numbers

open access: yesFluids, 2022
Isothermal turbulent flow around circular cylinders arranged side-by-side was numerically simulated on a commercial finite-volumes platform, ANSYS® CFX, version 2020 R2. The turbulence was modeled by using k-ω shear stress transport (k-ω SST).

Stereometric Design for Desk-Top SFF Fabrication [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF) technologies refer to the fabrication of physical parts directly from computer based solid models described by STL (Stereo Lithography) or VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) files generated by Computer-Aided ...

Enhanced Terahertz Spectroscopy of a Monolayer Transition Metal Dichalcogenide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ad‐hoc engineered metallic surface is employed to perform enhanced terahertz spectroscopy of a monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). Thanks to a local absorption boost of 104, this technique allows for the extraction of the phonon resonance features and effective permittivity of the 2D material, paving the way for the rational design of ...
