Product mixing in the alternating group [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We prove the following one-sided product-mixing theorem for the alternating group: Given subsets $X,Y,Z \subset A_n$ of densities $\alpha,\beta,\gamma$ satisfying $\min(\alpha\beta,\alpha\gamma,\beta\gamma)\gg n^{-1}(\log n)^7$, there are at least $ (1+o(

Circularly Polarized Perovskite Photodetector with Photocurrent Dissymmetry Factors of up to 1.95 Enabled by Liquid Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photodetectors made using perovskite single crystals in combination with free‐standing cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) polymer films exhibit photocurrent dissymmetry factors up to 1.95 for 520 nm circularly polarized light (CPL) excitation. The CPL spectral response of the photodetector is tunable over a broad range of wavelengths by tuning the ...

Diversity of ligninolytic ascomycete fungi associated with the bleached leaf litter in subtropical and temperate forests

open access: yesAIMS Microbiology
Little is known regarding the diversity patterns of Xylariaceae and Hypoxylaceae (Ascomycota) fungi taking part in the lignin decomposition of leaf litter from different tree species and under different climatic regions.

A 610 MHz Survey of the 1H XMM-Newton/Chandra Survey Field [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We present the results of a deep 610 MHz survey of the 1^H XMM/Chandra survey area with the GMRT. The resulting maps have a resolution of ~7 arcsec and an rms noise limit of 60 microJy. To a 5 sigma detection limit of 300 microJy we detect 223 sources within a survey area of diameter 64 arcmin.

A Homeostatic Photonic Device Integrating Vapor‐Regulated Thermo‐Optical Feedback Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An inorganic homeostatic photonic device is designed to autonomously regulate light, temperature, and vapor sorption through integrated positive and negative feedback mechanisms at multiple wavelengths. The device uses a graded mesoporous 1D photonic crystal coupled with a photothermal layer.

Multisensory integration in dynamical behaviors: maximum likelihood estimation across bimanual skill learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Optimal integration of different sensory modalities weights each modality as a function of its degree of certainty (maximum likelihood). Humans rely on near-optimal integration in decision-making tasks (involving e.g., auditory, visual, and/or tactile ...

Compensation methods to support cooperative applications: A case study in automated verification of schema requirements for an advanced transaction model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Compensation plays an important role in advanced transaction models, cooperative work and workflow systems. A schema designer is typically required to supply for each transaction another transaction to semantically undo the effects of .
