Colonisation of Newborn Piglets with a Mixture of Bacteroides Species Improves Their Gut Health and Performance

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Due to the low populations of Bacteroides sp. in the gut microbiota of sows compared to nursed piglets, sows may not represent an ideal source of Bacteroides sp. for newborn piglets. In this study, we therefore tested the effect of oral administration of

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Studies on Drought Tolerant and High Yielding Groundnut Varieties in Perambalur District

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management, 2021
Three varieties of groundnut were used to assess the drought tolerance and high yielding potential. Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oil seed crop mainly grown under rainfed situation. Erratic rainfall and frequent drought during the crop

Characterisation of Streptococcus suis Isolates in the Czech Republic Collected from Diseased Pigs in the Years 2018–2022

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
As in other countries, in the Czech Republic, Streptococcus suis infection in pigs is considered an economically significant disease for the pig industry, though little is known about its population structure. We collected S. suis isolates from 144 farms

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Prevotella-Based Bacterial Mixture Influences Gut Microbiota Composition in Weaned Piglets

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Based on previous knowledge on changes in the gut microbiota of weaned piglets, a mixture of five different Prevotella species, Anaerovibrio lipolyticus, and Mitsuokella multacida (a Prevotella mixture) was tested as potentially novel type of probiotics ...
