Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Changes in Neutrophil Count During Valganciclovir Therapy for Symptomatic Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection

open access: yesBiomedicines
Background/Objectives: Neutropenia is a common adverse effect of oral valganciclovir (VGCV) treatment in infants with congenital cytomegalovirus infection (CCMVI), with an estimated prevalence of 20%.

A study on the inhibitory mechanism for cholesterol absorption by α-cyclodextrin administration

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
Background: Micelle formation of cholesterol with lecithin and bile salts is a key process for intestinal absorption of lipids. Some dietary fibers commonly used to reduce the lipid content in the body are thought to inhibit lipid absorption by binding ...

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...

Comparison of pathophysiology in subclinical hyperthyroidism with different etiologies

open access: yesEndocrine Journal
Subclinical hyperthyroidism (SHyper) is defined as normal levels of free thyroxine (fT4) and free triiodothyronine (fT3) with suppressed levels of TSH.

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its

Active surveillance for adult low-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma—a review focused on the 30-year experience of Kuma Hospital—

open access: yesEndocrine Journal
Active surveillance (AS) for low-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC), which was initiated at Kuma Hospital (Kobe, Japan) in 1993 and Cancer Institute Hospital (Tokyo) in 1995, is now gradually being adopted worldwide, and several prospective ...

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Current status of the thyroid hormone measurement items in patients receiving levothyroxine monotherapy by the management based on the thyroid tissue volume

open access: yesEndocrine Journal
We and other investigators reported that mild TSH suppression with levothyroxine (LT4) was needed to achieve normal free triiodothyronine (FT3) levels and metabolic euthyroid state in athyreotic patients. Consequently, management methods based on thyroid
