Key gaps remain in the definition and application of keystone species concepts for fisheries management: A systematic scoping review

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract A keystone species is one whose influence is disproportionate to its abundance, the absence of which would change the dynamics of an ecological or human community. Despite its widespread use in the scientific literature, there is a limited understanding of how the keystone concept is defined or measured, or applied in practice, and especially ...

Genetically predicted KIR2DS4 mediate the association between gut microbe K10 and osteoporosis fractures: A mediation Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Osteoporosis fractures pose a significant public health concern, leading to substantial morbidity and mortality rates. The emerging evidence on the potential link between gut microbiota, proteins, and osteoporosis fractures suggests a complex relationship that warrants further investigation.

The Micro‐Nano Hybrid Filler Al2O3@CuNPs Is Used to Improve the Thermal Conductivity of Epoxy Resin Composites

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Improved thermal conductivity of EP by mirco‐nano hybrid fillers. ABSTRACT In this study, a micro/nano hybrid filler comprised of Al2O3@CuNPs is synthesized through a chemical reduction method. The incorporation of Cu nanoparticles serves as a bridge, addressing the contact issues within the filler and substantially enhancing its ability to establish a

Camera traps and deep learning enable efficient large‐scale density estimation of wildlife in temperate forest ecosystems

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We tested the effect of using a readily available deep learning algorithm for animal species classification on the population density estimates of eight wild mammal species in 10 protected areas (Da). In general, there were no significant differences to the manual estimates (Dm) for all animal species and seasons.
