Indirect Estimation of Soil Shrink–Swell Susceptibility Using the Induced Polarization Geophysical Method [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Induced polarization (IP) is based on the ability of a material to store electrical charges during the injection of a primary current. The accumulation and depletion of these charges decay once the primary current is shut off.

The 700 F properties of autoclave cured PMR-2 composites [PDF]

open access: yes
Studies were conducted to develop autoclave processing parameters for graphite reinforced PMR-2 resin composite materials intended for use in applications at temperatures up to 371 degrees (700 F).

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Theory of thermoelectricity in Mg$_3$Sb$_2$ with an energy- and temperature-dependent relaxation time

open access: yes, 2018
We study the electronic transport coefficients and the thermoelectric figure of merit ZT in $n$-doped Mg$_3$Sb$_2$ based on density-functional electronic structure and Bloch-Boltzmann transport theory with an energy- and temperature-dependent relaxation ...

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

ABOUT THE REASONS FOR THE AMPLITUDE INCREASE OF THE SEISMOACOUSTIC OSCILLATIONS WITH FREQUENCIES OF THE HAZARD RANGE AT COAL SEAMS MINING [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Determine the reasons for the amplitude increase (growth) of the seismoacoustic oscillations with frequencies of 700-1400 Hz in mine workings, which is one of the main criteria in the gas-dynamic phenomena ...

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Muscular VSD Device Complications: Literature Review and Possible Implications for Echocardiographic Follow-Up

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
Long-term transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) follow-up guidelines after muscular ventricular septal defect (mVSD) device closure are vague. The primary goal of this study was to perform a literature search to characterize the type and timing of ...

Trade and Geography in the Economic Origins of Islam: Theory and Evidence [PDF]

open access: yes
This research examines the economic origins of Islam and uncovers two empirical regularities. First, Muslim countries, virtual countries and ethnic groups, exhibit highly unequal regional agricultural endowments.
