The NMSSM lives: with the 750 GeV diphoton excess [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We propose an NMSSM scenario that can explain the excess in the diphoton spectrum at 750 GeV recently observed by ATLAS and CMS. We show that in a certain limit with a very light pseudoscalar one can reproduce the experimental results without invoking ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Proposal of a Method to Determine the Correlation between Total Suspended Solids and Dissolved Organic Matter in Water Bodies from Spectral Imaging and Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Water quality monitoring through remote sensing with UAVs is best conducted using multispectral sensors; however, these sensors are expensive. We aimed to predict multispectral bands from a low-cost sensor (R, G, B bands) using artificial neural networks

Influence of soil, land use and climatic factors on the hydraulic conductivity of soil [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2013
Due to inadequate data support, existing algorithms used to estimate soil hydraulic conductivity, K, in (eco)hydrological models ignore the effects of key site factors such as land use and climate and underplay the significant effects of soil structure ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Composite Models for the 750 GeV Diphoton Excess

open access: yes, 2016
We present composite models explaining the diphoton excess of mass around 750 GeV recently reported by the LHC experiments.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure; matches the published ...

Repeated crystallization in undercooled Zr41Ti14Cu12Ni10Be23 liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Isothermal crystallization studies are performed on Zr41Ti14Cu12Ni10Be23 melts. Undercooling experiments are carried out repeatedly at 907, 860, and 750 K. The scattering of the time to reach the onset of crystallization is investigated.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Evaluation of a composite pain scale including facial expressions for detecting orthopedic pain in lame dairy cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Orthopedic disease, presenting as lameness, is a common cause of pain in dairy cattle, often implying a prolonged course of disease, with significant economic losses and impaired animal welfare.
