Early Risk Factors for Self-Injurious Thoughts and Behaviours: A UK Population-Based Study of 219,581 People

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences, 2023
Mental disorders are a major problem among young people. To identify early risk factors of self-injurious thoughts and behaviours (SITB) among young adults with mental health problems, this case–control study drew data from the Clinical Practice Research

Exploring Calixarene‐Based Pseudorotaxane Architectures: Threading Ammonium Axles With an Exo‐Rim π‐Functionalized Calix[6]Arene Macrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel 1,4‐π‐functionalized calix[6]arene with enhanced interactions with dialkylammonium axles. We investigate threading behavior in CDCl3, highlighting how exo‐rim π‐functionalization affects binding affinity and stereoselectivity.

Single‐cell sequencing reveals potential novel insights into appendage‐patterning and joint‐development in a spider

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Jointed appendages represent one of the key innovations of arthropods, and thus understanding the development and evolution of these structures is important for the understanding of the evolutionary success of Arthropoda. In this paper, we analyze a cell cluster that was identified in a previous single‐cell sequencing (SCS ...

Imaging cerebrovascular health using 7T MRI

open access: yes, 2023
Magnetic resonance imaging is a valuable clinical tool for the visualization of intracranial vasculature. Without exposing patients to ionizing radiation or intravenous contrasts, it can provide multi-modal structural information about the shape ...

The Two Extremal Rays of Some Hyper–Kähler Fourfolds

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We consider projective Hyper–Kähler manifolds of dimension 4 that are deformation equivalent to Hilbert squares of K3 surfaces. In case such a manifold admits a divisorial contraction, the exceptional divisor is a conic bundle over a K3 surface. A classification of lattice embeddings implies that there are five types of such conic bundles.

Relaxation times of skeletal muscle metabolites at 7T [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2009
AbstractPurposeTo demonstrate the feasibility of quantitatively evaluating and measuring T1 and T2 relaxation times of human tibialis anterior (TA) muscles metabolites in vivo at 7T and to compare these results with those of 3T.Materials and MethodsA model lipid phantom (corn oil) and healthy volunteers (n = 4, mean ± SD age 35.6 ± 5.6 years) were ...

Endoplasmic reticulum stress is involved in the response of human laryngeal carcinoma cells to Carboplatin but is absent in Carboplatin-resistant cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The major obstacle of successful tumor treatment with carboplatin (CBP) is the development of drug resistance. In the present study, we found that following treatment with CBP the amount of platinum which enters the human laryngeal carcinoma (HEp2 ...

Implementation of vascular‐space‐occupancy MRI at 7T [PDF]

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2012
Vascular‐space‐occupancy (VASO) MRI exploits the difference between blood and tissue T1 to null blood signal and measure cerebral blood volume changes using the residual tissue signal. VASO imaging is more difficult at higher field because of sensitivity loss due to the convergence of tissue and blood T1 values and increased contamination from blood ...
