The influence of genotype and osmotic stress on germination and seedling of maize [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology in Animal Husbandry, 2014
The aim of this research was to estimate the influence of different NaCl osmotic solutions (0, -0.3 MPa, -0.6 MPa, -0.9 MPa, -1.2 MPa, -1.5 MPa) on seed germination, and early seedling growth in two maize hybrid different maturity groups (ZP 560 - FAO ...

Tetramer enrichment reveals the presence of phenotypically diverse hepatitis C virus-specific CD8+T cells in chronic infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Virus-specific CD8+ T cells are rarely detectable ex vivo by conventional methods during chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. In this study, however, we were able to detect and characterize HCV-specific CD8+ T cells in all chronically HCV genotype ...

Transport of Water in a Transient, Impact‐Generated Atmosphere on Mercury

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Mercury's polar cold traps host water ice deposits that are likely populated with impact‐delivered water via Mercury's exosphere. However, Mercury's near‐sun location experiences an extremely high photodestruction rate that rapidly destroys water with a timescale of only ∼3.5 hr.

A Graph Signal Processing Approach to the Characterization of Xe‐133 Atmospheric Background

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 7, 16 April 2026.
Abstract The geopolitical context advocates for monitoring nuclear activities within an international framework. In this context, the Comprehensive Nuclear‐Test‐Ban Treaty Organization has established measurement stations, known as the International Measurement System (IMS).

Photonic Crystal Fibers in the Terahertz Regime: Design Strategies, Performance Metrics, and Emerging Applications: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
An optimized octagonal‐core terahertz (THz) photonic crystal fiber sensor is presented for accurate identification of different milk samples based on refractive index variation. The structure enables highly confined THz guidance and strong light–analyte interaction, allowing reliable discrimination of camel, cow, buffalo, and sheep milk.

Blending of nanoscale and microscale in uniform large-area sculptured thin-film architectures

open access: yes, 2003
The combination of large thickness ($>3$ $\mu$m), large--area uniformity (75 mm diameter), high growth rate (up to 0.4 $\mu$m/min) in assemblies of complex--shaped nanowires on lithographically defined patterns has been achieved for the first time.

Prediction of Five‐Year Mortality Risk of Chronic Kidney Disease Using Artificial Intelligence‐Based Models: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Most countries are experiencing an increasing trend of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Preventive strategies, such as early prediction of CKD progression and mortality, are crucial in reducing this disease rate. Although artificial intelligence (AI) models have demonstrated outstanding predictive performance in the prognosis ...
