Matched Metabolic Stress Preserves Myokine Responses Regardless of Mechanical Load: A Randomized, Controlled Crossover Trial

open access: yesMetabolites
Background/Objectives: Skeletal muscle functions as an endocrine organ by secreting myokines in response to exercise, with interleukin-6 (IL-6) recognized as a representative intensity-dependent biomarker that rapidly increases immediately after exercise

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

Exploring Key Considerations for Artificial Intelligence Robots in Home Healthcare Using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process Method

open access: yesSystems
Most countries face declining birth rates and an aging population, which makes the persistent healthcare labor shortage a pressing challenge. Introducing artificial intelligence (AI) robots into home healthcare could help address these issues.

Standardized Effect Measures Informing Next‐Generation Strategies for Mechanical Stimulation in Cartilage Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This systematic review quantitatively compares conventional mechanical stimulation strategies in cartilage tissue engineering across 85 heterogeneous in vitro studies. Applying standardized effect measures, meta‐analysis reveals that combined compression and shear loading optimally promotes cartilage matrix development.

Liver Dysfunction Associated with Intravenous Methylprednisolone Pulse Therapy in Patients with Graves’ Orbitopathy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2015
Intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) pulse therapy is the first-line treatment for the active phase of moderate to severe Graves’ orbitopathy (GO). However, acute and severe liver damage has been reported during and after IVMP therapy.

Tenofovir Alafenamide Rescues Renal Tubules in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B

open access: yesLife, 2021
Nucles(t)ide analogs (NAs) are effective for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). NAs suppress hepatic decompensation and hepatocarcinogenesis, leading to a dramatic improvement of the natural course of patients with CHB.
