A codon-optimized Mecp2 transgene corrects breathing deficits and improves survival in a mouse model of Rett syndrome

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2017
Rett syndrome (RTT) is a severe X-linked neurodevelopmental disorder that is primarily caused by mutations in the methyl CpG binding protein 2 gene (MECP2). RTT is the second most prevalent cause of intellectual disability in girls and there is currently

Breakdown of Hydrodynamics in the Radial Breathing Mode of a Strongly-Interacting Fermi Gas

open access: yes, 2004
We measure the magnetic field dependence of the frequency and damping time for the radial breathing mode of an optically trapped, Fermi gas of $^6$Li atoms near a Feshbach resonance.

Metal-Free Dihydrogen Oxidation by a Borenium Cation:A Combined Electrochemical/Frustrated Lewis Pair Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In order to use H2 as a clean source of electricity, prohibitively rare and expensive precious metal electrocatalysts, such as Pt, are often used to overcome the large oxidative voltage required to convert H2 into 2 H+ and 2 e−. Herein, we report a metal-

Quasi‐Single‐Mode Polaritonic Crystal for Hyperbolic Phonon‐Polaritons

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Near‐field study of the polaritonic Fourier crystal with α‐MoO3 reveals that the hyperbolic phonon‐polaritons within the Type‐I Reststrahlen band may form a quasi‐single‐mode Bloch wave where only the fundamental mode propagates in the crystal. Our results demonstrate the realization of a quasi‐single‐mode regime for the inherently multimode hyperbolic

High Temperature Mechanical Properties of Alloy Steel 0.29C-1.20Cr-0.30Ni-0.35Mo

open access: yesTeshugang, 2006
The medium carbon alloy steel Cr-Ni-Mo was melted by a 50 kg vacuum induction furnace, and the mechanical properties of test steel-maximum load and reduction of area at 600~1400 ℃ have been measured by Gleeble-3800 test machine.

High occurrence of disabilities caused by leprosy: census from a hyperendemic area in Brazil's savannah region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objectives: To describe leprosy-related disabilities, we performed a census including people affected by leprosy in 78 municipalities of Tocantins state in northern Brazil. The study consisted of a review of patient charts, structured questionnaires, and

Alkylthienyl Side Groups in Conjugated Polymers Enable Localization of π Electron Density and Facilitate Efficient Hole Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resonance Raman spectroscopy is used in combination with other spectroscopic and morphology characterization techniques to unveil the mechanistic origin of the shift in synthetic strategy to alkylthienyl peripheral groups for high‐performing organic photovoltaics.

Conversion of Transplanted Mature Hepatocytes into Afp+ Reprogrammed Cells for Liver Regeneration After Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Donor‐derived tdTomato+ mature hepatocytes were FACS‐isolated and transplanted into Fah−/− host mice. During regeneration, these cells convert into proliferative, unipotent Afp+ rHeps. Their plasticity is governed by a PPARγ/AFP‐dependent metabolic switch, segregating into pro‐proliferative Afplow and pro‐survival Afphigh subpopulations.
