Approximate controllability of semilinear neutral systems in Hilbert spaces
The approximate controllability of semilinear neutral systems in Hilbert spaces is studied using the Schauder fixed point theorem. It is shown that the approximate controllability of the semilinear system under some conditions is implied by the approximate controllability of its linear part.

Local exact controllability of the diffusion equation in one dimension
This paper establishes the local exact null controllability of the diffusion equation in one dimension using distributed controls in the case of the Dirichlet boundary value problem. Most of the techniques used in the course of the proof are borrowed from Barbu (2002).

Controllability of second order discrete-time descriptor systems
This paper is mainly devoted to the controllability of second order discrete-time descriptor systems. Characterizations for different controllability concepts are derived and feedback designs are investigated by transforming the system into an ...

On reachability and controllability for a Volterra integro-dynamic system on time scales [PDF]
The paper studies and relates the notions of reachability and controllability for the Volterra integro-dynamic system on time scales. More specifically, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for reachability and controllability.

On controllability, parametrization, and output tracking of a linearized bioreactor model
The paper deals with a distributed parameter system related to the so‐called fixed‐bed bioreactor. The original nonlinear partial differential system is linearized around the steady state. We find that the linearized system is not exactly controllable but it is approximatively controllable when certain algebraic equations hold.

On the Lyapunov equation in Banach spaces and applications to control problems
By extending the Lyapunov equation A*Q + QA = −P to an arbitrary infinite‐dimensional Banach space, we give stability conditions for a class of linear differential systems. Relationship between stabilizability and exact null‐controllability is established.

CONTROLLABILITY AND OBSERVABILITY OF MATRIX SYLVESTER SYSTEMS ON TIMESCALES [PDF]
This paper presents several fundamental results concerning the controllability and observability criteria for Δ-differential matrix Sylvester system X Δ (t) = A(t) X(t) + X(t) B(t) + F 1 (t) U(t) F 2 * (t), X(t 0 ) = X 0 , with output signal Y(t)= K 1 (t)

Null controllability of a nonlinear heat equation
We study the internal exact null controllability of a nonlinear heat equation with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. The method used combines the Kakutani fixed‐point theorem and the Carleman estimates for the backward adjoint linearized system. The result extends to the case of boundary control.
