The Mechanics of Regime Instability in Latin America Mecanismos de inestabilidad de régimen en América Latina

open access: yesJournal of Politics in Latin America, 2009
The paper is narrowly addressed to a single puzzle: How did it happen that countries that attempted to install democracy earlier enjoyed it less frequently?

Meson loops in the f0(980) and a0(980) radiative decays into ρ , ω [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal A, 2008
We calculate the radiative decay widths of the $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(980)$ scalar mesons into $ργ$ and $ωγ$ considering the dynamically generated nature of these scalar resonances within the realm of the Chiral Unitary Approach. The main ingredient in the evaluation of the radiative width of the scalar mesons are the loops coming from the decay into ...

Engineering Concentration‐Dependent Intravitreal Mobility via Cyclic Arginine‐Enriched Nanocarrier Surface Modification: In Vivo Proof‐of‐Concept in a Porcine Large Animal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, Hammer et al. highlight cyclic‐arginine surface engineering as a highly biocompatible, controllable, and concentration‐dependent regulator of intravitreal nanoparticle mobility in vivo in a translational large animal model. The cyclic arginine surface‐modification supports the development of next‐generation biomaterials for long‐acting ...

Failed Presidencies: Identifying and Explaining a South American Anomaly Presidencias fallidas: identificando y explicando una anomalía sudamericana

open access: yesJournal of Politics in Latin America, 2009
Are presidential democracies inherently unstable and prone to breakdown? Recent work on Latin America suggests that the region has seen the emergence of a new kind of instability, where individual presidents do not manage to stay in office to the end of ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Institutional Change in Latin America: External Models and their Unintended Consequences Cambio institucional en América Latina. Modelos externos y sus consequencias involuntarias

open access: yesJournal of Politics in Latin America, 2009
Influential theories claim that institutions shape actor behavior but are sustained by these actors’ behavior. How do scholars escape from this trap of endogeneity? This article highlights a partially exogenous factor: institutional models and blueprints.

A Cu‐Based Near‐IR Active MOF with an Ion‐Pair Guest Exhibiting Versatile and Selective Gas‐Solid Reactivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The new Cu‐containing MOF (Me2NH2)(CuICl2)@[Cu4(INA)4Cl2O]·1.5dmf (3) contains a cation and an anion as guests and shows UV‐near‐mid‐IR absorption and near‐IR emission. MOF 3 shows gas‐solid reactivity in the presence of NH3 and HCOOH to yield two new 3D MOF.

Delegation, Presidential Regimes, and Latin American Regulatory Agencies Delegación, regimenes presidenciales y agencias reguladoras en América Latina

open access: yesJournal of Politics in Latin America, 2010
During the 1990s, a large number of regulatory agencies were created or reformed in different sectors in Latin American countries. Almost all included political delegation mechanisms, intended as formal rules to enhance credible commitments to time ...

Study of quasi-two-body $$B_{(s)}\rightarrow \phi (f_0(980)/f_2(1270)\rightarrow )\pi \pi $$ B ( s ) → ϕ ( f 0 ( 980 ) / f 2 ( 1270 ) → ) π π decays in perturbative QCD approach

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
In 2017, LHCb collaboration reported their first observation of the rare decays $$B_s \rightarrow \phi (f_0(980)$$ B s → ϕ ( f 0 ( 980 ) $$/f_2(1270) \rightarrow ) \pi ^+\pi ^-$$ / f 2 ( 1270 ) → ) π + π - and the evidence of $$B^0 \rightarrow \phi (f_0 ...

a0(980)→γγ and f0(980)→γγ: a consistent description [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1999
Abstract We work out the Linear Sigma Model (LSM) predictions for the 2 γ decay rates of the a 0 (980), f 0 (980) mesons under the assumption that they are respectively the I =1 and I =0 members of the q q scalar nonet.
