Cultural geography of heat: Artistic experiments with heat’s animacies
A sustained, cultural geographical engagement with heat is long overdue. I advance this agenda by engaging with the work of contemporary artists. Artists are responding to uneven conditions of global heating by exploring heat’s animacies: how heat interweaves with the practices and textures of life.

Ischemic stroke (IS) remains a leading cause of disability with limited therapeutic targets. Using multi‐omics integration, we identified ADGRE5 as a protective gene significantly downregulated in venous endothelial cells (vECs) during IS. JUNB acts as a key upstream transcription factor that negatively regulates ADGRE5 expression.

Habitat loss and fragmentation for an old‐forest species is driven by severe wildfire and drought
We examined the long‐term trends in habitat for California spotted owls and attributed habitat changes to specific drivers. We found that the 43% decline in habitat from 1985 to 2022 could primarily be attributed to wildfire and drought. Habitat patches also became smaller and more isolated over time.
