Zeb2 Controls Retinal Physiological and Pathological Angiogenesis by Regulating Astrocyte Proliferation and Differentiation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
During development, the oxygen‐sensitive transcription factor Zeb2 restrains astrocyte proliferation and maturation to ensure balanced retinal angiogenesis. In disease, it promotes the neurotoxic A1 astrocyte phenotype and inflammation, thereby promoting reparative revascularization over pathological neovascularization.

Targeting PCSK9 in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells: An Effective Strategy to Suppress Ferroptosis and Attenuate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Progression

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
PCSK9 aggravates AAA by promoting ferroptosis in VSMCs. In the pathological AAA environment, PCSK9 upregulation triggers ferritinophagy‐dependent degradation of FTH1, leading to Fe2+ release, triggering lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis, exacerbating AAA.

Ammonia Accumulation Drives Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Triggering Ammonia‐Induced Cell Death Through Lysosome–Mitochondria Crosstalk

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Mechanical strain disrupts the lysosome‐mitochondria axis via GLS1‐mediated ammonia toxicity, causing NP cell death and ECM breakdown in IVDD. CB839‐mediated GLS1 inhibition effectively rescues cellular homeostasis and alleviates disc degeneration.
