Models of Neutrino Masses and Mixings: a Progress Report

open access: yes, 2007
We present some recent developments on model building for neutrino masses and mixings. In particular, we review tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing derived from discrete groups, notably A4. We discuss the problems encountered with extending the symmetry to the

Free‐Volume Regulation Enables Significantly Enhanced Electrical Breakdown via Short‐Chain Molecular Spatial‐Positioning Intercalation into Poly(vinylidene fluoride)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative molecular spatial‐positioning shimming strategy is developed to optimize the electrical properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). By intercalating polyethylene wax (PE wax) short‐chain molecules into PVDF's free volume, the film achieves a significantly enhanced energy density of 32.67 J cm−3.

Chemical Heterogeneities along the South Atlantic Mid-Ocean-Ridge (5-11°S): Shallow or Deep Recycling of Ocean Crust? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Between 5° and 11°S, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge displays anomalous crustal thickness and geochemical compositions, thought to be related to either small scale upper mantle heterogeneities or a weak, diffuse mantle plume.

Dynamic Decoration of DNA Scaffolds for High‐Resolution Cancer Cell Subtyping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a dual‐mode imaging platform that utilizes self‐assembly and disassembly of DNA scaffolds for high‐resolution cancer cell detection. The structural rigidity of DNA scaffolds effectively prevents cellular internalization for over 300 min.

Quantum statistical manifolds: the linear growth case

open access: yes, 2019
A class of vector states on a von Neumann algebra is constructed. These states belong to a deformed exponential family. One specific deformation is considered. It makes the exponential function asymptotically linear.

Multi‐Scale Structural Effects of External Electrical Fields of Melt Tracks in Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser material processing is a promising technique for fabricating metal structures. Here, external electric field (EFs) assisted laser processing of metallic powders are investigated. EFs affect the melt tracks through changes in their stability and influence the grain structure in conjunction with laser intensity distribution methods. The EF‐assisted
