Effective postprocessing for equilibration a posteriori error estimators
Numerische Mathematik, 2012The authors investigate that an error control by fully discrete a posteriori error estimators is possible with typical overestimation between 1.25 and 2.0 in simple computer benchmarks. Numerical simulations for three classes of applications illustrate the efficiency for Poisson problems.

A new a posteriori error estimate for the Morley element
Numerische Mathematik, 2008The authors study the a posteriori error analysis for the Morley element of the Kirchhoff plate problem. In this respect they use some previous results on Helmholtz decomposition and the conservative property of the Morley element. Their results refine some previous ones, by dropping two edge jumps terms in both the energy norm of the error and the ...

A Posteriori Error Estimates Based on Hierarchical Bases
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1993During the last 10 years a substantial progress has been made in the theory and practice of adaptive techniques for solving partial differential equations. This progress is strongly related to the construction and study of reliable a posteriori error estimators and error indicators.

A Posteriori Error Estimators for the Raviart–Thomas Element
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1996This paper is concerned with the development of a posteriori error estimators for the Raviart-Thomas element which is really powerful for mixed finite element methods. The difficulties met in such a development are: -- the \(H(\text{div},\Omega)\)-norm is an anisotropic norm since it refers to differential operators of different orders; -- the traces ...

A Posteriori Suboptimal Error Estimates in Control Problems
Applied Mathematics and Computation, 1977For the linear quadratic control problem, a lower bound for the performance index is established by simple methods. Using this bound, two important a posteriori error estimates are obtained, the first one measuring the deviation of the performance index, while the other is for the deviation of the state and control variables from the optimal solution ...

The Equivalence of A Posteriori Error Estimators
1995For finite element discretzations of partial differential equations, various a posteriori error estimators have been proposed in the literature. They can be classified as follows: (1) estimators based on evaluating the residual of the discrete solution with respect to the strong form of the pde, (2) estimators based on the solution of auxiliary local ...
