A priori estimate for the Nirenberg problem

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems - S, 2008
We establish a priori estimate for solutions to the prescribing Gaussian curvature equation $ - \Delta u + 1 = K(x) e^{2u}, x \in S^2,$  (1) for functions $K(x)$ which are allowed to change signs. In [16], Chang, Gursky and Yang obtained a priori estimate for the solution of (1) under the condition that the function K(x) be positive

An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Solvability of Neumann boundary-value problems with Caratheodory nonlinearities

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2004
We propose a sufficient condition, on the nonlinear term, for the existence of solutions. This new condition is weaker than the usual sign condition and than the assumption on the existence of constant upper and lower solutions.

On an initial-boundary value problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1979
We study an initial-boundary value problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, a simple mathematical model for the interaction between electromagnetic waves and a plasma layer.

Resolving the Cu(bdc) Conundrum: Identifying Non‐Porous Packing of Prototypical Coordination‐Network Thin Films Combining Advanced Diffraction Techniques and Computational Modelling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed Cu(bdc) forms prototypical MOF thin films for which a multitude of not fully satisfactory structural models have been suggested. Combining rotating grazing‐incidence diffraction and X‐ray reflectivity on two complementary samples with density‐functional theory, we first discard the previously suggested models and then identify a non ...

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation

A priori estimates for quasilinear degenarate parabolic equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We prove some maximum and gradient estimates for classical solutions to a wide class of quasilinear degenerate parabolic equations, including first order ones.
