Surface roughness affects material life, especially fatigue and wear. This study examines surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) on AA7075‐T6 aluminum alloy, using low‐speed vibration, varied shot amounts, and sizes. SMAT produces smoother surfaces, lowers friction, and improves wear performance, enhancing tribological properties and engineering

Adding dual particles to the matrix reduced the density of Al alloy composites. The additions of dual particles improved the hardness by 15.4%, ultimate strength by 40.4% and yield strength by 46.7%, and wear resistance of the Al2214 alloy. Abstract In the present work, hybrid composites made of Al2214 alloy with B4C and graphite were produced by using

Effect of Punch Surface Microtexture on the Microextrudability of AA6063 Micro Backward Extrusion
To apply conventional forming processes to microscale processing, the influence of size effects caused by material properties and friction effects must be considered. Herein, the effects of tool surface properties, such as punch surface texture, on microextrusion properties, such as extrusion force, product shape, and product microstructure, were ...

Mass flash reduction strategies in friction stir processing of aluminum alloys: A review
Expulsion of excess flash is a common friction stir processing challenge. Its causes include use of flat‐shouldered tools, no‐to‐low tilt angles, high and low heat input, high plunge depth, and high travel speed and axial forces. Selecting optimal parameters, concave shoulders and lifting high the tool tilt angles when using flat shoulders, reduce the ...
