Free water changes and their correlations with multimodal biomarkers in frontotemporal dementia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The alterations of free water (FW) in behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) and its clinical correlations remain unclear. METHODS FW levels in the whole brain and specific white matter fiber tract was evaluated in 112 bvFTD patients and 103 normal controls.

Anatomical Associations Between Focal Mitochondrial Metabolism and Patterns of Neurodegeneration in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 3, Page 614-628, March 2026.
Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has a very specific neuroimaging signature, but the molecular underpinnings of the strikingly selective anatomic involvement have not elucidated to date. Accordingly, a large neuroimaging study was conducted with 258 participants to evaluate associations between patterns of neurodegeneration and focal ...

Mapping Human Corpus Callosum Connectivity With Diffusion Spectrum Imaging: A Deterministic Tractography Approach

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Our study developed a callosal template incorporating macro‐anatomic and long‐range connectional information, providing detailed transcallosal tracts and the corresponding topography of callosal subregions at high resolution using DSI techniques. In addition, the QA‐based structural connectome observed in this study reflects the relationship between ...

Use of Abductor Pollicis Brevis Tendon for Reconstruction of Chronic Thumb Metacarpophalangeal Joint Radial Collateral Ligament Injuries: A Report of Two Cases and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Radial collateral ligament (RCL) injuries of the thumb metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint are relatively rare compared to ulnar collateral ligament lesions. These injuries typically occur due to forced and sudden adduction of the thumb and can significantly impair MCP joint functionality.

VarCoNet: A Variability‐Aware Self‐Supervised Framework for Functional Connectome Extraction From Resting‐State fMRI

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 4, March 2026.
VarCoNet is a robust framework for functional connectome estimation from rs‐fMRI. Using contrastive learning, it trains a 1D‐CNN–Transformer encoder to improve the intra‐ to intersubject variability ratio. VarCoNet achieves state‐of‐the‐art subject fingerprinting and outperforms existing methods in ASD classification.

Generation of an Age‐Dependent and Harmonized 18F‐FDG Brain PET Atlas Using a High‐Sensitivity Short‐Axial FOV PET/CT System

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 4, March 2026.
Age‐stratified and scanner‐harmonized 18F‐FDG brain PET atlases were generated from high‐sensitivity PET/CT data. The framework integrates EIR‐based harmonization, spatial normalization, and age‐specific averaging to enable cross‐scanner comparability and provide normative metabolic references across the adult lifespan. ABSTRACT 18F‐FDG brain PET atlas

Upstream CB1R Regulation of β‐Adrenergic Memory Consolidation

open access: yesHippocampus, Volume 36, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Object recognition memory (ORM) plays a key role in identifying familiar items and encoding episodic information. ORM consolidation depends on β‐adrenergic receptor (βAR) signaling and is associated with increased BDNF expression in the dorsal hippocampus.

Self‐Navigated, Retrospective, Data‐Consistent Motion Correction for MPnRAGE

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 1429-1439, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To extend and automate a data‐consistent, self‐navigated motion‐correction method for 3D radial T1‐weighted imaging. Methods This method incorporated rigid‐body motion effects into the forward model, solving for parameters that maximize consistency with the data.

Engagement of Community Health Workers in the Amazonas in the Development of an Educational Technology: A Co‐Design Study

open access: yesCommunity Science, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a pivotal role in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) within Primary Health Care settings. Adequate training is essential to strengthen their capacity to deliver care, particularly by fostering dialogue between the health team and the community.
