Robust Face Alignment using Progressive AAM

open access: yesThe Journal of the Korea Contents Association, 2007
AAM has been successfully applied to face alignment, but its performance is very sensitive to initial values. In this paper, we propose a face alignment method using progressive AAM. The proposed method consists of two stages; modelling and relation derivation stage and fitting stage. Modelling and relation derivation stage first builds two AAM models;

Facial Landmark Detection: a Literature Survey

open access: yes, 2018
The locations of the fiducial facial landmark points around facial components and facial contour capture the rigid and non-rigid facial deformations due to head movements and facial expressions. They are hence important for various facial analysis tasks.

The Role of Sustainable Social Media Marketing Activities in Raising Bottom‐of‐the‐Pyramid Customers' Engagement, Satisfaction, and Subjective Well‐Being

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Though prior studies have explored the effects of firms' social media marketing activities on customer engagement, the dynamics characterizing this association in bottom‐of‐the‐pyramid (BoP) markets remain tenuous, exposing a critical gap. Addressing this gap, we develop and test a model assessing (a) the effects of firms' sustainable social ...

Circular Economy Pathways for Airport Climate Change Mitigation

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Airport operators face growing climate‐change pressures; the circular economy offers pathways to reduce impacts and recover resources. We examine how airport operators apply the circular economy in practice. We use an exploratory qualitative multicase design based on practitioner‐generated documents (e.g., press releases and sustainability ...

Mitigating drying shrinkage and efflorescence in high strength alkali-activated materials through steam curing

open access: yesLow-Carbon Materials and Green Construction
The manufacturing of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) significantly contributes to global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, necessitating the exploration of alternative binders like alkali-activated materials (AAM).

The One‐Step Synthesis of Biologically Active Isochromans from Lignin‐Derived Aromatic Monomers in Tunable Deep Eutectic Solvents

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A straightforward one‐step protocol enables the synthesis of bio‐based and biologically active isochromans through the Oxa‐Pictet cyclization involving diverse aldehydes, including vanillin in combination with lignin‐derivable homovanillyl alcohol, a prominent aromatic platform chemical obtainable via diol‐assisted fractionation of lignocellulose ...

Clinical Safety of Extended Interval Dosing of Nivolumab in Patients with Melanoma

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Extended interval dosing regimens of immune checkpoint inhibitors have been implemented widely. However, their approval was mainly based on pharmacokinetic modeling and simulations. Consequently, comparative safety data of extended interval dosing regimens in a real‐world setting are limited.

Whole tissue imaging of cellular boundaries at sub‐micron resolutions for deep learning cell segmentation: Applications in the analysis of epithelial bending of ectoderm

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background To understand cellular morphology, biologists have relied on traditional optical microscopy of tissues combined with tissue clearing protocols to image structures deep within tissues. Unfortunately, these protocols often struggle to retain cell boundary markers, especially at high enough resolutions necessary for precise cell ...
