Targeting noncoding RNAs to treat atherosclerosis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 2, Page 220-245, January 2025.
Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) are pivotal for various pathological processes, impacting disease progression. The potential for leveraging ncRNAs to prevent or treat atherosclerosis and associated cardiovascular diseases is of great significance, especially given the increasing prevalence of atherosclerosis in an ageing and sedentary population.

Statistical analysis of the primary outcome in acute stroke trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Common outcome scales in acute stroke trials are ordered categorical or pseudocontinuous in structure but most have been analyzed as binary measures. The use of fixed dichotomous analysis of ordered categorical outcomes after stroke (such as the modified

Intraoperative Ultrasound‐Based Assessment of Coagulation in Cardiac Surgery Patients: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesJournal of Cardiac Surgery, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background: Bleeding after cardiac surgery is common. Intraoperative assessment of whole blood coagulation may allow early targeted treatment of coagulopathy associated with cardiopulmonary bypass. The performance of an ultrasound‐mediated method of whole blood coagulation testing is assessed and compared with guidance by routine laboratory testing ...

Stent thrombosis with an aneurysm 7 years after a drug eluting stent implantation

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2014
We report a case of very late stent thrombosis 7 years post sirolimus eluting stent implantation presenting as ST elevation MI while on dual antiplatelet therapy. Angiography revealed an aneurysm at the proximal end of the stent.

Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors for cardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction: a systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression

open access: yesJournal of Intensive Care, 2020
Background Cardiogenic shock complicates 5–10% of myocardial infarction (MI) cases. Data about the benefit of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors (GPI) in these patients is sparse and conflicting. Methods We performed a systematic review, meta-analysis, and

Assessing the effectiveness of primary angioplasty compared with thrombolysis and its relationship to time delay: a Bayesian evidence synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Meta-analyses of trials have shown greater benefits from angioplasty than thrombolysis after an acute myocardial infarction, but the time delay in initiating angioplasty needs to be considered.

Comprehensive Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals NPC2 and ITGAV Genes as Potential Prognostic Biomarkers in Gastrointestinal Cancers

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2024.
ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal cancers (GICs) continue to dominate in terms of both incidence and mortality worldwide. Due to the absence of efficient and accurate prognostic biomarkers, the prognosis and treatment outcomes of many GICs are poor. Identifying biomarkers to predict individual clinical outcomes efficiently is a fundamental challenge
