The present study aims at establishing the exact role and limitation of ultrasound in pediatric acute abdomen.Fifty children less than 14 years of age presenting with acute abdomen were evaluated by US and other imaging modalities. The mean age of presentation was 3 1/2 years. Maximum number of cases were seen in less than two years of age.

A phytobezoar in the acute abdomen
The American Journal of Surgery, 2009A phytobezoar is a rare differential diagnosis in the acute abdomen. An 89-year-old woman presented with lower abdominal pain. A computed tomography scan and ultrasound suggested the presence of a bezoar. A phytobezoar was extracted surgically, and a resection was performed of the perforated small bowel segment.
