Multidetector CT of Blunt Abdominal Trauma

Radiology, 2012
The morbidity, mortality, and economic costs resulting from trauma in general, and blunt abdominal trauma in particular, are substantial. The "panscan" (computed tomographic [CT] examination of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, and pelvis) has become an essential element in the early evaluation and decision-making algorithm for hemodynamically stable ...

Abdominal cavernous Iymphangiomas: CT findings

Abdominal Imaging, 2005
Two adult patients with histopathologically proved cavernous lymphangiomas and one adult patient with lymphangiomas of strongly presumed cavernous type by cytologic and computed tomographic findings are reported. On computed tomograms, multiple, aggregated, small, and tiny cysts without a solid portion, along the lymphatic channels are characteristic ...

Abdominal wall CT: A pictorial essay

Computerized Radiology, 1985
Abdominal CT demonstrates clearly the anatomy of the abdominal wall. This radiographic technique may provide valuable information when pathology is suspected in this region or in the adjacent peritoneum. The muscles, subcutaneous tissues and vascular structures of the abdominal wall should be examined thoroughly when reading routine abdominal CT films.

CT Scanning in Acute Abdominal Injuries

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1988
Computed tomography has become an important adjunct in the evaluation of the patient with blunt abdominal trauma. It provides quantitative information about hemoperitoneum as well as qualitative information about the source of hemoperitoneum. CT scanning also evaluates the retroperitoneal organs and retroperitoneal hematoma more accurately than any ...

CT of hemodynamically unstable abdominal trauma

European Radiology, 1999
This article is an appraisal of the use of CT in the management of patients with unstable abdominal trauma. We examined 41 patients with abdominal trauma using noncontrast dynamic CT. In 17 patients a postcontrast dynamic CT was also carried out. On CT, 25 patients had hemoperitoneum. Thirteen patients had splenic, 12 hepatic, 6 pancreatic, 8 bowel and

CT Features of Calcification in Abdominal Neuroblastoma

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1982
The plan radiographs and computed tomography (CT) scans of 12 children with abdominal neuroblastoma were reviewed to evaluate the incidence and shape of calcification in the tumor. Calcifications were detected in 7 cases by plain radiographs and in 10 by CT. Small dotted and thin ring calcifications were better shown by CT.

The CT features of abdominal tuberculosis in children

Pediatric Radiology, 2002
The last decade has seen a resurgence in the incidence and clinical presentation of tuberculosis (TB). Little data exist in the paediatric age group regarding abdominal tuberculosis (ATB) and limited reports of its CT features have been published. To elucidate the CT features of ATB in children. The medical records of 22 patients with ATB were reviewed ...

Ultrasonography and CT of abdominal and inguinal hernias

Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 1984
AbstractForty‐two patients with various abdominal wall hernias and five patients with inguinal hernias were studied with ultrasonography. Thirteen patients were studied by CT. Although hernias are usually apparent on physical examination, difficulty in diagnosis may be encountered in some patients.

CT of blunt abdominal trauma in childhood

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1981
Computed tomography (CT) was performed on 23 children who had sustained moderate or severe blunt abdominal trauma. The major advantages of CT over excretory urography, sonography, and radionuclide imaging include superior anatomic detail and ability to visualize all organs, the peritoneal cavity, and retroperitoneum simultaneously.
