NEW APPLICATIONS OF THE ABEL-LIOUVILLE FORMULA [PDF]
In a recent paper, [1], 2005, the indefinite integrals of a certain type are calculated using some linear homogeneous differential equations of second order with variable coefficients, associated with the integrals.

“There Are Places Full of Beauty”: Desettling High School Students' Scientific Writing
ABSTRACT This study contributes to desettling and expanding expectations about the forms of scientific language that belong in students' scientific writing. The primary empirical focus is the analysis of 52 high school student abstracts articulating community‐based investigations, submitted as part of their participation in a student conference in a ...

Forgoing Nuclear: Nuclear Power Plant Closures and Carbon Emissions in the United States
ABSTRACT This paper examines the effect of nuclear power plant decommissioning on electricity generation and carbon emissions in the United States. Using data on nuclear reactor closures in the United States between 1993 and 2022 and data on state‐level carbon emissions and electricity generation from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), this ...

To address interactionally troublesome exchanges (e.g., bullying, discrimination, or harassment) in the workplace, giving a name to negative personal experiences is crucial. Drawing on discussions of hermeneutical injustice, we explore the emancipatory potential of naming in post‐hoc tellings of these experiences, with particular attention to ...

Multiscale gyrokinetics for rotating tokamak plasmas: II. Reduced models for electron dynamics
In this paper, we extend the multiscale approach developed in Abel et al (2012 Rep. Prog. Phys. submitted) by exploiting the scale separation between ions and the electrons. The gyrokinetic equation is expanded in powers of the electron to ion mass ratio,

Periodic solutions of Abel differential equations
For a class of polynomial non-autonomous differential equations of degree n, we use phase plane analysis to show that each equation in this class has n periodic solutions. The result implies that certain rigid two-dimensional systems have at most one limit cycle which appears through multiple Hopf bifurcation.

ABSTRACT This study explores exciting state species and reaction pathways in positive leaders to better understand the breakdown mechanisms of long air gap discharges and natural lightning. Emission spectra from an unstable positive leader in a 1 m rod‐plate air gap under switching impulse voltages were observed, spanning 300–800 nm.

Comparison of the Orthogonal Polynomial Solutions for Fractional Integral Equations
In this paper, a collocation method based on the orthogonal polynomials is presented to solve the fractional integral equations. Six numerical examples are given to illustrate the method. The results are compared with the other methods in the literature,

Abel's Equation and Regular Growth: Variations on a Theme by Abel [PDF]
Following a 70-year old suggestion of Paul Levy, a condition is formulated for the regularity of growth of real functions. The condition, which is quite explicit, makes use of the iterates of the function and solutions of Abel's functional equation, and is well adapted to a computer testing.
