Single‐Cell Analysis Identified a Recurrent Malignant‐Associated Transcriptional State in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) shows high molecular heterogeneity, yet single‐cell data from Japanese patients are limited. We performed scRNA‐seq on tumors and adjacent normal tissues from four Japanese CRC patients and identified a shared malignant cell cluster with high KCNQ1OT1 expression and reduced RASSF6 levels.

Brain Drain and Productivity Growth: Evidence From South Africa, 1947–2019

open access: yesEconomics of Transition and Institutional Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper provides empirical evidence of how high‐level human capital outflow could affect TFP‐based economic development and vice versa. The concern of potential endogeneity between brain drain and economic development is addressed directly.

Numerical Solutions of Linear Abel Integral Equations Via Boubaker Polynomials Method

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم
In this article, a numerical method based on Boubaker polynomials (BPs) was presented to solve the Linear Abel integral (LAI) Eqs of first and second types. The matrices were used to form the (LAI) Eq  into a system of linear Eqs.

SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid protein variants have differential RNA chaperone activity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid (N) protein facilitates RNA annealing through its RBD–IDR2–CTD region, identifying it as a functional RNA chaperone. The Omicron BA.5 variant shows reduced chaperone activity compared to the Wuhan wild‐type protein. Although phosphorylation has no effect on wild‐type N, phosphomimetic modification of BA.5 N restores its RNA ...

Financial Statement Information and Equity Value: The Role of Real Options Characteristics

open access: yesFinancial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines whether firm‐specific real options characteristics are equity value‐relevant beyond valuation estimates anchored in financial statements. Using extensive historical data for the United Kingdom, we assess and compare the forecast accuracy and explanatory power for stock prices of equity valuation models based on residual ...

A (2 + 1)-Dimensional Integrable Breaking Soliton Equation and Its Algebro-Geometric Solutions

open access: yesMathematics
A new (2 + 1)-dimensional breaking soliton equation with the help of the nonisospectral Lax pair is presented. It is shown that the compatible solutions of the first two nontrivial equations in the (1 + 1)-dimensional Kaup–Newell soliton hierarchy ...

Exploring a Subpopulation of MASLD Associated With New Onset of CKD Using Supervised Clustering Techniques

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
The supervised clustering of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) using a SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP)‐converted matrix reveals distinct subpopulations that improved risk stratification for new onset of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Rational solutions and limit cycles of polynomial and trigonometric Abel equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
e study the Abel differential equation $x'=A(t)x^3+B(t)x^2+C(t)x$. Specifically, we find bounds on the number of its rational solutions when $A(t), B(t)$ and $C(t)$ are polynomials with real or complex coefficients; and on the number of rational limit ...

Calibration and discrimination ability of the Dat'AIDS score in people living with HIV aged 70 years and older from the Dat'AIDS cohort

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The Dat'AIDS score was developed to predict 5‐year mortality risk in people living with HIV aged 60 and older. However, its validity in people living with HIV aged 70 years and older needed confirmation. Methods This was a multicentre prospective cohort study in the Dat'AIDS French cohort.

Missed opportunities to prevent HIV acquisition with pre‐exposure prophylaxis: A mixed methods study of people with recently acquired HIV in the United Kingdom

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To explore missed opportunities for PrEP use among people with recently acquired HIV in the United Kingdom. Methods Data were derived from CASCADE, an international, longitudinal, mixed‐methods study of adults (≥16 years) with recently acquired HIV (≤12 months).
