Primary aberrant third nerve regeneration

Annals of Neurology, 1979
AbstractThe clinical and neuroradiological features in 4 patients with the syndrome of aberrant regeneration of the third nerve are presented. In contrast to what is commonly seen, the syndrome was not preceded by third nerve palsy.A petrous apex‐cavernous sinus meningioma was the underlying lesion in all 4 patients.

Treatment of aberrant facial nerve regeneration with botulinum toxin A

Orbit, 2004
To assess the effect and efficacy of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) at reducing and maintaining eyelid synkinesia in aberrant facial nerve regeneration, while concurrently observing for the presence of side effects to differing treatment doses.A prospective interventional study of five patients with eyelid synkinesia resulting from aberrant ...

Primary Aberrant Oculomotor Regeneration

Archives of Neurology, 1977
Four patients exhibiting signs of partial aberrant oculomotor regeneration without a preceding acute third nerve palsy had meningiomas involving the cavernous sinus. Two of the patients had preceding sixth nerve palsies. We propose that slowly progressive primary aberrant oculomotor regeneration is diagnostic of intracavernous meningioma.

The Iris Sphincter in Aberrant Regeneration of the Third Nerve

JAMA Ophthalmology, 1978
Fourteen patients with aberrant regeneration of the third cranial nerve were examined using self-developing photographs, motion pictures, and pupillography. These pupillary phenomena were noted: (1) sector contractions of the iris sphincter in response to light, (2) sector contractions of the iris sphincter associated with eye movements, and (3) an ...

Aberrant Regeneration of the Inferior Division of the Oculomotor Nerve

Archives of Neurology, 1981
Aberrant regeneration of the oculomotor nerve most frequently results from an intracranial lesion proximal to the bifurcation of the nerve. We describe a patient in whom abnormal synkinetic movements indicate aberrant regeneration within the inferior division only.

Aberrant Corneal Nerve Regeneration after PRK

Cornea, 2003
To report a case of aberrant corneal nerve regeneration after myopic photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).One patient underwent bilateral PRK to correct a refractive error of -5.50 D in each eye. Thirteen months after the original PRK, the left eye underwent an uncomplicated PRK reoperation to correct a regression of -1.00 D.

Contralateral Surgery for the Treatment of Third Nerve Palsy with Aberrant Regeneration

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2021
To report the results of contralateral recession-resection of the horizontal muscles in oculomotor nerve palsy with aberrant regeneration to correct both the strabismus and the ptosis in one procedure.Retrospective case series. This is an institutional study on patients with oculomotor nerve palsy with aberrant innervation who had contralateral eye ...

Aberrant Regeneration Involving the Oculomotor and Abducens Nerves

Ophthalmologica, 2010
An unsual case of severe head trauma is reported with postoperative ‘total’ ophthalmoplegia of the right eye. Subsequent recovery led to an apparent transposition of right medial and right lateral rectus function. Optokinetic stimulation induced convergence nystagmus when the target was moved to the patient’s left, and a divergence nystagmus when the ...
