Aberrant regeneration of corneal nerves after laser in situ keratomileusis

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2003
We report a case of aberrant regeneration of corneal nerves along the corneal flap interface after myopic laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) using confocal microscopy in vivo. The aberrant stromal nerves persisted at the last follow-up, 2 years post LASIK. The short-term clinical outcome was excellent. The long-term clinical effects are unknown.

Electrophysiologic analysis of aberrant regeneration after facial nerve paralysis

Neurology, 1975
The blink reflex, ordinarily elicited only in the orbicularis oculi and not in other facial muscles, can be used to detect synkinetic movements objectively. In 26 of 29 patients tested at least 4 months after facial nerve degeneration, an aberrant blink reflex was recorded in the orbicularis oris on the affected side.

Aberrant Regeneration of the Third Nerve Following Orbital Trauma

Archives of Neurology, 1983
A patient had aberrant regeneration of the inferior branch of the third nerve following penetrating orbital trauma. Examination of the right eye showed no light perception and a pupil that was nonreactive to accommodation, direct, and consensual light stimuli. However, on downgaze, there was marked constriction of the pupil in the blind eye.

Aberrent regeneration in carcinogen‐treated earthworms (Eisenia foetida)

Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1974
AbstractGroups of earthworms (Eisenia foetida) were injected either with 1% methyleholanthrene (MCA), 0.5% 7–12, Dimethylbenz (a) anthracene (DMBA) or 3 × 10−4 mg of N‐methyl‐N‐nitrosoguanadine (NMNG), After one week, the posterior ten segments were removed from all worms.
