A Technique for Ureteral Stump Ablation
Journal of Urology, 1988A total of 5 children underwent successful electrofulguration of a distal ectopic ureteral stump with reflux. Electrofulguration was performed endoscopically in 4 girls and in 1 boy the stump was ablated during an open operation. The procedure, which is simple and safe, obviates the potential nidus for recurrent infection.

Radiofrequency tumor ablation: principles and techniques
European Journal of Ultrasound, 2001Radiofrequency (RF) tumor ablation has been demonstrated as a reliable method for creating thermally induced coagulation necrosis using either a percutaneous approach with image-guidance or direct surgical placement of thin electrodes into tissues to be treated. Early clinical trials with this technology have studied the treatment of hepatic, cerebral,

Mapping Techniques for Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
Current Problems in Cardiology, 2007Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia. Although significant work still needs to be done, recent advances in understanding the mechanism of AF have led to the development of elegant catheter mapping techniques for ablation of AF. These improved mapping techniques are complemented by an evolution in various imaging and navigational technologies,

Renal radiofrequency ablation: Technique and results
Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations, 2005Laparoscopic or percutaneous radiofrequency ablation has become a viable treatment option for small renal tumors. Although long-term results are not yet available, intermediate results show promise for the treatment of select renal lesions. Here, we describe the basics of radiofrequency ablation technology, outline techniques used for both percutaneous

Endometrial ablation: principles and technique.
Acta Europaea fertilitatis, 1990Uterine bleeding may be caused either by benign organic pathology as well as different dysfunctional conditions. Medical treatment with progestins, danazol or GnRH analogues is usually used as the first choice therapy. Where the symptoms persist, hysterectomy is generally proposed; it has been calculated that from 500,000 to 700,000 such operations are

Improved laser ablation technique
2010A method of manufacturing a shaped part, the method comprising: (I) providing a partially consolidated porous part that has been made from a powder; (II) permeating the porous part with a volatile liquid (e.g. water, ethanol), so that the liquid is present in the pores of the porous part; and (V) forming the shaped part by applying a laser beam to a ...
