Spatial and temporal changes in ablation, distribution and evolution of glacial zones on Irenebreen, a small glacier of the High Arctic, Svalbard

open access: yes, 2020
The purpose of this work was to provide a detailed description of the temporal and spatial variability of ablation on Irenebreen – with a focus on the spatial distribution and evolution of glacial zones in the summer season of 2017. Irenebreen is a small

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Comparison of holmium:YAG and thulium fiber laser lithotripsy: ablation thresholds, ablation rates, and retropulsion effects [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2011
The holmium:YAG (Ho:YAG) laser lithotriptor is capable of operating at high pulse energies, but efficient operation is limited to low pulse rates (∼10 Hz) during lithotripsy. On the contrary, the thulium fiber laser (TFL) is limited to low pulse energies, but can operate efficiently at high pulse rates (up to 1000 Hz).

CO2 Laser Ablation Area Scaling and Redeposition on Flat Polyoxymethylene Targets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
One of the remaining subjects of interest for laser ablation propulsion study is whether special benefits or challenges exist when applying a particularly large or small laser spot area to a target. This subject is of high importance for topics including

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

Mixing enthalpy-driven variations in ablation thresholds and laser-induced crater morphologies of CoCuFeNiMnMox (x=0.5, 1.0, 1.5) high-entropy alloys under UV nanosecond laser pulses

open access: yesResults in Surfaces and Interfaces
This study investigates the ablation threshold fluence and power dependence of ablation process in CoCuFeNiMnMox (x = 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5) high-entropy alloys under ultraviolet nanosecond laser pulses.

Diode Laser Ablation for Threshold Retinopathy of Prematurity [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Ophthalmology, 2000
To describe short-term structural outcomes and associated ocular complications in premature infants treated with diode laser ablation for retinopathy of prematurity. The records of all infants who were diagnosed as having threshold retinopathy of prematurity and treated with diode laser therapy at our hospital from January 1, 1992, through December 31 ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Absorption waves produced by CO2 laser ablation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A requirement for efficient pulsed laser propulsion from ground to LEO is the achievement of a specific impulse of up to 800 s at a jet efficiency of at least 50%.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.
