Decomposing Normal and Abnormal Features of Medical Images into Discrete Latent Codes for Content-Based Image Retrieval [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In medical imaging, the characteristics purely derived from a disease should reflect the extent to which abnormal findings deviate from the normal features. Indeed, physicians often need corresponding images without abnormal findings of interest or, conversely, images that contain similar abnormal findings regardless of normal anatomical context.

Influence of 17α-Methyltestosterone on Morphological Deformities and Pigmentation Development in Juvenile Japanese Eels, Anguilla japonica

open access: yesAnimals
17α-methyltestosterone (MT) is a synthetic steroid used to induce masculinization when administered during the larval stage of fish. However, the side effects of MT on eel are still poorly understood and, in this study, we examined the various effects of

Identifying epileptogenic abnormalities through spatial clustering of MEG interictal band power [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Successful epilepsy surgery depends on localising and resecting cerebral abnormalities and networks that generate seizures. Abnormalities, however, may be widely distributed across multiple discontiguous areas. We propose spatially constrained clusters as candidate areas for further investigation, and potential resection.

Spatio-temporal Video Parsing for Abnormality Detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Abnormality detection in video poses particular challenges due to the infinite size of the class of all irregular objects and behaviors. Thus no (or by far not enough) abnormal training samples are available and we need to find abnormalities in test data without actually knowing what they are.

RTEX: A novel methodology for Ranking, Tagging, and Explanatory diagnostic captioning of radiography exams [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper introduces RTEx, a novel methodology for a) ranking radiography exams based on their probability to contain an abnormality, b) generating abnormality tags for abnormal exams, and c) providing a diagnostic explanation in natural language for each abnormal exam. The task of ranking radiography exams is an important first step for practitioners

Abnormal subgroups and Carter subgroups in some infinite groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
Some properties of abnormal subgroups in generalized soluble groups will be considered. In particular, the transitivity of abnormality in metahypercentral groups is proven. Also it will be proven that a subgroup H of a radical group G is abnormal in G if and only if every intermediate subgroup for H coincides with its normalizer in G.
