A microplate system for ABO and Rh(D) blood grouping
Transfusion, 1993A microplate system for performing ABO and Rh(D) blood group determinations with a Kemble Kemtek 1000SP liquid handling processor, an Anthos 2001 microplate reader, an IBM Personal System 2 microcomputer, and Sanguin Forma software is described. The performance of this Kemble/Anthos/IBM/Sanguin microplate system for ABO and D grouping was evaluated by ...

Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy
Background and Summary: We review the transcriptional regulation of ABO expression and discuss variants in the promoter and erythroid cell-specific regulatory region in individuals with weak ABO phenotypes such as Bm, Am, B3, and A3.

The Bombay phenotype fails to express the ABH antigens of ABO blood group system on red blood cells and in secretions because of a lack in activities of the H gene (FUT1)- and Secretor gene (FUT2)-encoded alpha (1,2)fucosyltransferases. In this study, we

A New Variant in the ABO Blood Group System: B(h)
Vox Sanguinis, 1969Summary. The authors describe an assumed but hitherto undiscovered variant of incomplete ‘Bombay’ phenotype, designated as Bh, with partial suppression of the B antigen. The erythrocytes contain a very weak B antigen, at quantitative level B20; they are H‐negative and Lea‐positive. The serum contains anti‐A, anti‐B and anti‐H antibodies.

Molecular genetic basis of the histo-blood group ABO system
Nature, 1990The histo-blood group ABO, the major human alloantigen system, involves three carbohydrate antigens (ABH). A, B and AB individuals express glycosyltransferase activities converting the H antigen into A or B antigens, whereas O(H) individuals lack such activity. Here we present a molecular basis for the ABO genotypes.

A note on the likelihood equation in the ABO blood group system
Annals of Human Genetics, 1978Some sufficient conditions on the data for the likelihood equation of the ABO blood-group system to have a unique solution, the maximum-likelihood estimate, are given. The simplest of these conditions is that the frequency of the blood group O in the sample shall exceed 1/8. This condition will hold for most samples.

The histo‐blood group ABO system and tissue transplantation
Transfusion, 1998In general, one might expect that ABO incompatibility of donor and recipient would be important to some degree if viability of the transplanted allograft is important for graft incorporation and function. This is true for some recipients of organs. However, ABO incompatibility appears to play a minor role, if any, in the clinical success of viable ...

The Association between Endometrial Cancer and Blood Groups of the ABO System
Tumori Journal, 1968The authors consider the distribution of the phenotypes of ABO system in a group of 115 patients with histologically diagnosed endometrial adenocarcinoma and in a random semple of the population. The above group is combined with a larger one taken from the literature in the search for phenotypical correlations.
