Noninvasive fetal antigen genotyping: Results from a survey on the status of clinical implementation

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Noninvasive fetal antigen genotyping can assist the management of immunized pregnant women, and fetal RHD genotyping can be used as a screening assay to guide restricted use of Rh prophylaxis. Based on a survey, we present an overview of the implementation of noninvasive fetal antigen genotyping into clinical practice.

Characterization of the in vitro quality parameters of cold‐stored platelets containing aggregates

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Cold‐stored platelets (CSP) are being used more widely for the treatment of bleeding because of their longer shelf life. However, storage at low temperatures can induce the formation of platelet aggregates. We aimed to study the impact of aggregate formation on platelet quality and function.

Production of viable and functional neutrophils in granulocyte concentrates with the Reveos automated system

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Granulocyte transfusions may benefit patients with neutropaenia and life‐threatening infections unresponsive to antimicrobial therapies. Current aphaeresis‐based granulocyte concentrate (GC) production requires donor stimulation and hydroxyethyl starch (HES), which raises safety and supply concerns.
