Radioiodine Absorption and Secretion by the Calf Abomasum
Abstract The bidirectional passage of radioiodine between the blood and abomasum was investigated in 12 anesthetized calves. Ratios of abomasal venous to arterial 131 I concentrations averaged 0.84±0.13 (sd) during 24 minutes and 0.72±0.13 at 24 hours after intravenous administration indicating 16 to 28% removal of circulating iodine by the abomasum.
