Abortion surveillance annual summary 1978 [PDF]

open access: yes
Over the past 25 years, "surveillance"\u2014including collection, analysis, and dissemination of epidemiologic information\u2014has become applicable not only to infectious disease but also to such diverse public health concerns as air pollution, cancer,

Suppressed Auger Heating of Hot Carriers in Cu‐Doped Colloidal Quantum Wells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Auger heating represents a major bottleneck for hot carrier (HC) relaxation in colloidal quantum wells (CQWs), delaying carrier accumulation in band‐edge states and diminishing performance in light‐emitting applications. To address this issue, we introduce copper doping in CdSe CQWs to create midgap states, which efficiently suppresses Auger ...

Abortion and well-being: A narrative literature review

open access: yesSSM: Qualitative Research in Health
“Well-being” is utilised in multiple ways – an everyday word, a component of health, a policy objective, reflecting a diverse set of shifting meanings, conceptualisations, definitions, measurements, and theorising.

The Necessity of Dynamic Workflow Managers for Advancing Self‐Driving Labs and Optimizers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We assess the maturity and integration readiness of key methodologies for Materials Acceleration Platforms, highlighting the need for dynamic workflow managers. Demonstrating this, we integrate PerQueue into a color‐mixing robot, showing how flexible orchestration improves coordination and optimization.

FastCat: Autonomous Discovery of Multielement Layered Double Hydroxide Alloy Catalysts for Alkaline Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A machine learning‐guided self‐driving laboratory screened over 500 nickel‐based layered double‐hydroxide catalysts for alkaline oxygen evolution. Out of the eight metals, the robot uncovered a quaternary Ni–Fe–Cr–Co catalysts requiring only 231 mV overpotential to reach 20 mA cm−2.

The abortion-crime link: evidence from England and Wales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We use panel data from 1983 to 1997 for the 42 police force areas in England and Wales to test the hypothesis that legalizing abortion contributes to lower crime rates.

Implantation‐On‐Chip: An AI‐Based Platform for Monitoring the Embryo Trophoblast–Endometrial Stroma Cross Talk With Xenobiotics Interference

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We present a novel AI‐integrated implantation‐on‐chip platform that enables mimicking and monitoring the maternal–fetal interactions at the early phases of human embryo implantation with high spatiotemporal resolution. The complexity of the trophoblast invasion process was addressed by conducting the analysis at global (rate of invasion) and local ...

Optimizing 3D Bin Packing of Heterogeneous Objects Using Continuous Transformations in SE(3)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a method for solving the three‐dimensional bin packing problem for heterogeneous objects using continuous rigid‐body transformations in SE(3). A heuristic optimization framework combines signed‐distance functions, neural network approximations, point‐cloud bin modeling, and physics simulation to ensure feasibility and stability ...

Causal analysis of trade loss from pathogens: A global study of foot and mouth disease impacts on meat exports

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Our general interest is in global trade loss from livestock pathogens, specifically exports. We adopt a causal inference approach that considers animal disease outbreaks over time as non‐staggered binary treatments with the potential for switching in (infection) and out of treatment (recovery) within the sample period. The outcome evolution of

Abortion as Insurance [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper views abortion access as an insurance policy that protects women from unwanted pregnancies. Within this framework, we present a theoretical model where greater access provides value in the form of insurance against unwanted births and also ...
