Conditions and rate of extreme dunes abrasion at the Pomeranian Bay
This paper presents the temporal and spatial variability of the abrasion dynamics of the dunes located on the coast of the Southern Baltic Sea within the Polish section of the Pomeranian Bay between 1986 and 2008. The study presents long-term tendencies and daily dynamics of coastal dunes abrasion, being the consequence of intensive storm surges ...

Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Bayram on predıction of bohme abrasion rate
Abrasion refers to the wearing down of rock surfaces due to abrasive grains. Abrasion resistance refers to the ability of rocks to withstand wear. Abrasion resistance is used to determine the resistance of building materials produced for flooring ...

New experiments to probe the role of fractures in bedrock on river erosion rate and processes [PDF]
River erosion is a fundamental process that impacts, among others, mountain landscape evolution. Mountain rock lithologies often exhibit bedding, joints, and fractures that are thought to alter the incision efficiency of rivers compared to intact ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Abrasion Rates and Service Life of C2 Tyres for Vans
Vans (light commercial vehicles) account for only about 11% of the European light-duty vehicle fleet. However, they are mostly used in urban delivery and service operations where frequent stop-and-go driving increases tyre abrasion. Furthermore, their annual mileage is on average more than 70% higher than that of passenger cars. For these reasons, vans

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Abrasion Effect on Heating Performance of Carbon Nanotube/Epoxy Composites
The effects of abrasion on the heating performance of carbon nanotube (CNT)/epoxy composites were investigated in terms of Joule’s heat, convective heat, and radiative heat under moderate-to-severe and localized abrasive conditions.

Digitalizing electroplating requires both domain knowledge and interoperability. This work introduces PlatOn, a domain ontology for trivalent chromium plating and coating characterization, and a hybrid pipeline that aligns it to a mid‐level reference ontology by combining eight similarity metrics with language model reasoning. Expert‐validated mappings
