Wear and crack initiation prediction of rail irregularity welding zone

open access: yesJixie qiangdu
In order to investigate the relation between abrasion and crack initiation in the welded zone of rails and axle weight and friction coefficient, through the field measurement of a large number of uneven weld zones, two kinds of typical weld zone uneven ...

Effects of Hardness and Fracture Toughness of Target Ceramics and Abrasive Particles on Wear Rate by Abrasive Water Jet

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, 1996
Seven kinds of ceramics, β-Si3N4, α′/β′-Sialon, TZP, SiC, three kinds of Al2O3, were worn using three kinds of abrasive particles having different hardnesses by abrasive water jet (AWJ). Wear mechanisms and wear rates of the worn ceramics depend strongly on the ratio of the hardness of abrasive particles (Hp) to that of target ceramics (Ht) as well as ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Architecture‐Driven Sensor Stability in Weft‐Knitted Engineering Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Textile‐integrated sensor architectures are systematically compared to evaluate their electromechanical behavior under combined mechanical and environmental loading. Pocket‐based integration exhibits stable and reproducible signals, whereas tunnel‐based routing shows higher sensitivity accompanied by increased variability.

Efficacy of the combination of trephination abrasion with 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy for verruca plana: A retrospective study

open access: yesPhotodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy
Background: Studies have shown that photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective and non-invasive technique for treating verruca plana. However, due to the limited penetration depth of photosensitizers and light sources, the efficacy of PDT for patients ...

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...
