The rate of cervical abrasion in dental students
Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1982Abrasion of the cervical region of teeth has been attributed to mechanical cleaning procedures using dentisfrices containing abrasives of various kinds. In the present study the loss of substance during a 26 month period in the cervical region of the upper left premolars of dental students was measured directly by means of a micrometer.

Estimation of the rate of aeolian abrasion of rocks on Mars requires knowledge of (1) particle flux, (2) susceptibilities to abrasion of various rocks, and (3) wind frequencies on Mars. Fluxes and susceptibilities for a wide range of conditions were obtained in the laboratory and combined with wind data from the Viking meteorology experiment.

Effect of abrasive mass flow on the abrasive acceleration and erosion rates of abrasive gas jets
Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2019The mass flow of abrasive is one of the significant factors, which affects the erosion rate of abrasive gas jet eroding rock and coal, because it affects rebounding abrasives and the shielding effect. However, the effect of abrasive mass flow on abrasive acceleration has been little studied in favor of research on abrasive particle erosion, which is of

Effect of Abrasive Flow Rate in Milling with Abrasive Water Jet
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011This Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) process is usually used to cut the materials which are difficult to cut by conventional machining processes. In this work, controlled depth milling (CDM) is done using AWJM. This work primarily focuses on controlling the abrasive flow rate to reduce the time for machining the component.

Effect of Abrasive Feed Rate on Rock Cutting Performance of Abrasive Waterjet
Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2019Rock cutting with an abrasive waterjet system has been attempted in mining and construction fields. In abrasive waterjet cutting, the overall operating cost depends on the cost of the consumed abrasive. For this reason, it is important to identify an optimum abrasive feed rate for cost and performance efficiency.

The Rating of Abrasive Cutoff Wheels
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1975A rational approach to cutoff wheel selection is presented based on the most important criterion for this operation—minimum cost per cut. New parameters are identified which play a more significant role than the conventional quantities grain size, grade (hardness), and structure number normally used to characterize a wheel.

THE EFFECT OF ABRASIVE MASS MOISTURE CONTENT ON THE ABRASION-RESISTANT STEEL WEAR RATE
Tribologia, 2019This paper presents the results of tests for Hardox Extreme Steel wear rate in an abrasive mass of varying moisture contents. The tests were conducted by the “rotating bowl” method using quartz sand with a grain size of 0.5–1.4 mm. The obtained test results show that an abrasive mass with a moisture content of 7% exhibits the lowest rate of steel ...

Effect of the abrasive nature on the impact and impact-abrasion wear rate of a martensitic cast iron
Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1990General tendencies of the effect of the abrasive size and shape are already established for abrasion of materials: a coarser abrasive paper leads to high wear rates, and so do more angular abrasive particles. Combined influence of these parameters may however alter the wear behaviour of a material which will depart from these established rules.

Optimum abrasive flow rate modelling for titanium alloy cutting using abrasive water jet
International Journal of Abrasive Technology, 2009Abrasive water jet (AWJ) cutting systems are extensively used in industry, thus optimisation of the process parameters that determine efficiency, economy and quality of the process is becoming more and more important. However, being a complicated cutting system, the performance of AWJ is characterised by a large number of process parameters, which ...

Effect of surface conditioning on the abrasion rate of dental composites
Journal of Dentistry, 1991Seven dental composites were conditioned prior to wear testing in a three body abrasion machine. The physical conditioning comprised thermal cycling or storage in water for equivalent times. Chemical conditioning was with 75 per cent ethanol or n-heptane. The results indicated that specimens conditioned by 50,000 thermal cycles had an increased surface
