Effect of ZrB$_2$ additions on the thermal stability of polycrystalline diamond [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This study investigates the effect of ZrB$_2$ additions on the microstructure, thermal stability, and thermo-mechanical wear behaviour of polycrystalline diamond. Following high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) sintering, the ZrB$_2$-PCD material showed a full conversion of the binder phase to cobalt-boride (Co2B and Co$_{23}$B$_6$) phases.

Of fiery sparks & glittering spots: Melting-resolidification and spherical particle formation in abrasion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The curious occurrence of perfectly spherical particles when a steel substrate is slid against a hard abrasive was first observed and documented by Robert Hooke in the 17$^{th}$ century. Similar particles have subsequently been observed in numerous other abrasion-type processes, ranging from grinding of steels to sliding rock faults.

Analysis of the influence of abrasive belt wear on the removal depth of grinding screw rotor

open access: yesJin'gangshi yu moliao moju gongcheng
To ensure the uniformity of material removal during surface grinding of screw rotors, a mathematical model for the material removal depth of screw rotors is established, considering the impact of abrasive wear on grinding removal depth.

Abrasive Wear Modes in Ball-Cratering Test Conducted on Fe73Si15 Ni10Cr2 Alloy Deposited Specimen [PDF]

open access: yesTribology in Industry, 2014
The objective of this study was to develop a theoretical model and associated wear mode map to identify the regimes in which two body abrasion (grooving abrasion) and three body abrasion (rolling abrasion) dominate in the micro-abrasive wear test (also ...

Effect of WC Grain Size and Abrasive Type on the Wear Performance of HVOF-Sprayed WC-20Cr3C2-7Ni Coatings

open access: yesCoatings, 2020
In order to investigate the effect of WC grain size on coatings’ properties and abrasive wear performance, a few WC-20Cr3C2-7Ni coatings with three different WC grain sizes were deposited by the high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spray process.

Performance of limestone‐based sorbent for sorption‐enhanced gasification in dual interconnected fluidized bed reactors

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 69, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract A possibility to carry out sorption‐enhanced gasification (SEG) is represented by its integration with the calcium looping concept in dual interconnected fluidized beds (DIFB). This article is focused on the sorbent CO2 uptake performance and attrition/fragmentation tendency when operating conditions simulating those of a DIFB‐SEG process are ...
