Lesion Diameter Versus Inflammatory Biomarkers and Clinical Severity in Predicting Treatment Selection in Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a rare chronic inflammatory breast disease with no established predictor to guide medical versus surgical treatment. Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and C‐reactive protein (CRP) have been proposed, but prior reports rarely adjusted for lesion morphology or other markers of disease severity.

Preservation Versus Routine Removal: Morbidity and Long‐Term Outcomes Following Diagnostic Laparoscopy Versus Negative Appendectomy—A Regional Multicentre Observational Cohort Study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Guidelines recommend laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) for a macroscopically normal appendix when no pathology is identified during diagnostic laparoscopy (DL) for suspected acute appendicitis (AA). This approach may lead to increased hospitalization, higher costs, and greater morbidity. Whether these guidelines are justified remains debatable.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and health‐related quality of life between children with molluscum contagiosum and healthy controls and to examine whether lesion number and anatomical localization were associated with these outcomes. This prospectively conducted cross‐sectional study included 72 children with

Surgical Appropriateness of Imaging in Acute Cholecystitis: A Danish Audit

open access: yesSurgical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute cholecystitis is a common surgical condition, most frequently caused by gallstones. Ultrasound is recommended as the first‐line imaging modality, while CT and MRCP are reserved for inconclusive cases or suspected complications. Increasing use of CT in Denmark raises concerns regarding unnecessary radiation exposure. This study
