Analysis of Pectins, Extensins, and Hemicelluloses in Abscission Zones
Plant organ detachment occurs through the activation of specific, highly specialized cells, named the abscission zone (AZ). Molecular and biochemical transformations are induced in this specific tissue region that lead to the loosening of the cell walls, middle lamellae dissolution, and, as a consequence, the separation of the organ from the maternal ...Emilia, Wilmowicz +2 more

Detection of Pectic Polysaccharides in Abscission Zones by Immunolocalization
The breakdown of the primary cell wall and degradation of pectic polysaccharides in the middle lamella regions of abscission zone cells are the main events during plant organ abscission. This protocol provides an efficient procedure for detecting the contents of different pectin epitopes by antibodies including LM5 (immunolocalization of (1-4)-β-D ...openaire +2 more sources
EVOLUTION OF ETHYLENE FROM EXCISED ABSCISSION ZONES
1963Abstract : Ethylene evolution from abscission zone explants has been measured with a gas chromatograph. Naphthaleneacetic (NAA) causes marked increases in the amount of ethylene produced regardless of the abscission stage to which it is applied. Additions of ethylene to explants show that the gas is active only during the second abscission stage ...

Isozymes of Cellulase in the Abscission Zone of Phaseolus vulgaris
1972Cellulase activity in the abscission zone of Red Kidney bean was previously shown to be partially soluble in a low salt buffer and partially soluble in a high salt buffer (Lewis and Varner, 1970). This suggested the presence of more than one molecular form of the enzyme.

Fine structure of abscission zones
Planta, 1968Changes in the cells comprising the abscission zones of Lycopersicon esculentum and Nicotiana tabacum flower pedicels were observed, apparently associated with the separation of the flowers from the plants. Special attention is devoted to changes which occurred in the fine structure of intracellular components of the abscission cells.

Immunocytochemical Detection of Phytohormones and Phytohormone-Related Compounds in Abscission Zones
This chapter presents a detailed step-by-step guide for the procedure of detecting plant hormones and proteins related to phytohormonal metabolism and signaling in a specific group of cells named the abscission zone (AZ). Sections of the AZ should pass through numerous procedures before they can be studied for localization of these molecules. Using theAgata, Kućko, Emilia, Wilmowicz
