Absolute Macrophage Dependency of T Lymphocyte Activation by Mitogens
The Journal of Immunology, 1976Abstract A T lymphocyte subpopulation that contains only 0.3% macropages and less than 2% B lymphocytes has been prepared from guinea pig lymph node cells by the use of two different types of adherence columns. This subpopulation does not proliferate in response to the mitogens Con A or PHA unless additional macrophages are added.

Absolute Pitch Does Not Depend on Early Musical Training
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2003Abstract: The etiology and defining characteristics of absolute pitch (AP) have been controversial. To test the importance of musical training in the development of this skill, we developed a new paradigm for identifying AP that is independent of a subject's musical experience.

Constant Absolute Risk Aversion, Bankruptcy, and Wealth-Dependent Decisions
The Journal of Business, 1980The existence of insurance, futures markets, and stock markets indicates the importance of risk aversion in economics. In spite of this, there are few studies which attempt to estimate the degree of an agent' s risk aversion (see Friend and Blume 1975).1 Any study which seeks to quantify risk aversion, regardless of the setting, must necessarily resort

Temperature dependence of CsI (T1) absolute scintillation yield
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1993A cubic CsI(TI) crystal of 0.8 cm on a side was mounted on a 1 x 1 cm square photodiode to measure the absolute scintillation yield of CsI(TI) between - 100 and + 50°C. The room temperature yield was measured to be 64,800 + 3,200 photons/MeV. The maximum yield was observed to occur at about -35°C, approximately 6% above the room temperature yield.

The temperature dependence of absolute gas phase acidities
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2000Abstract Using both ab initio and semiempirical calculations, the temperature dependence of the thermochemical cycle relating gas phase enthalpies of acidity to electron affinities and bond dissociation energies is examined. In almost all cases, the effect of temperature is less than the uncertainties in the thermochemical quantities themselves.

Angle-dependent absolute infrared reflectance and transmittance measurements
SPIE Proceedings, 2000A goniometric system is used in conjunction with an FT-IR (Fourier- Transform Infrared) spectrophotometer to perform reflectance and transmittance measurements as a function of angle of incidence from 12$DEG to 80$DEG. The input beam is polarized using a high-quality Ge reflective Brewster-angle polarizer, and is focussed onto the sample with an ...

Temperature dependence of absolute CsI(Tl) scintillation yield
Conference Record of the 1991 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference, 2002A 1 cm*1 cm right cylindrical CsI(Tl) crystal was mounted on a 1 cm*1 cm square photodiode to measure the absolute scintillation yield of CsI(Tl) between -80 degrees C and 50 degrees C. A maximum yield of 65900+or-3300 photons/MeV was measured at 36 degrees C.

Temperature dependence of the absolute fluorescence yields of chloroplast fragments
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1980Abstract Absolute quantum yields of fluorescence were measured for different forms of chlorophyll in photosystems I and II over the temperature range 293-4 °K. The values obtained at 293 °K for short-wave emission are equal to about 0.3% ( ϑ 1 ) in photosystem I, and about 1% ( ϑ 2 ) in photosystem II, while the values for long-wave emission are ...

Temperature dependence of absolute fluid-state parameters
Cryogenics, 1987Abstract The temperature dependence of the vapour and liquid volumes, v v and v 1 , respectively, of a saturated fluid, 0 v l ⩽ v c ⩽ v v , d v v /d T v l /d T , and the empirical relation between the volume ratio, v v / v l , and the evaporation energy, u v - u l , namely ln( v v / v l ) ≈ ( u v − u l /( RT ), are used

Absolute involvement: the experience of mothers of ventilator-dependent children
Health and Social Care in the Community, 1998Home care for a technology dependent child is stressful, costly, and time consuming, yet there is little research concerning the maternal caregiver experience. Sixteen mothers whose children required ventilators participated in this study. Using grounded theory methods, 32 interviews were examined to identify the core variable of absolute involvement ...
